Who would be your favourite for 4th and why? I think it will be a toss up between Arsenal and Liverpool with Spurs not too far behind but I think Liverpools away record could mean they balls up what is a great opportunity to get 4th this season. Arsenals woes will soon be forgotten and they'll beat Blackburn on Saturday with ease and Spurs will probably beat Liverpool at WHL so there will only be a point between the three of them in all probability. Liverpool will definitely win more home games than the other two but I also think Arsenal will win more away games than the other two. I feel Liverpool have slightly more versatility going forward and their last 10 games or so are much more favourable than Arsenal's. At this moment I would make Liverpool slight favourites but with a few January signings Arsenal could be in pole position come May.
Pains me to say but i think it will be liverpool... Arsenal look a shower of ****e. Wenger is losing the plot.. spurs wont challenge for 4th..
Has it got to be a choice of those 3? If it was from the entire PL I'd choose Fulham so we could meet and beat them in a CL final.
I think Liverpool will be 3rd as it goes, Chelsea being 4th. They'll have to cut out losses to the likes of Stoke of course but I think Chelsea will have a bit of a transition season and I think Villas Boas will take a season to get to grips with the PL. It'll be a distant 3rd though!! Arsenal wil be sixth, probably Spurs 5th although I don't rate them either. Could be Stoke to shock us all and push the north London clubs to 6th and 7th!
I think it'll be a close run thing between liverpool and arsenal, with spurs not far behind, but not really close enougth to ever be in pole position. As you said a few jan singings for arsenal might do them a world of good, but with current squad and performances i think liverpool definatly, unlucky to lose satuaday.
Ooo I don't think I like you lot thinking we'll get 4th! I think I prefer to be the team who everyone writes off. In all seriousness though, the OP has a good point about our away record. The last time we came from behind to win a game away from home was against Bolton in August 09 (in fact we've only done it once home or away since then, also against Bolton). I hope we improve on that this year. I think Chelsea will definitely get top 4 but out of Arsenal and Liverpool fighting it out for that final CL spot either team can grab 3rd if Chelsea have a dip in form. Saying that, (like Chelsea last year) Utd or City can have a dip in form and the top 4 could look completely different to how we envisage it now. I'm not going to write Arsenal or Spurs off.
Arse holes 4th, liver **** 5th, stoke 6th, everton 7th, newcastle 8th, spurs 9th, bolton 10th. garunteed. ps hizmo is a homo
Ive got a soft spot for the spuds they produce good football year on year with a tiny budget compared to the others, plus they always manage to humiliate Le Arse as of late lol
Tottenham for me. First of all because I want them to finish ahead of them two and secondly I was very impressed with their win at Wolves on Saturday where I had them nailed on to lose. I think Adebayor will rove to be a very good signing and could well bring the best out in Defoe. They have a good back up striker in Pavlyuchenko as well. I would honestly take Spurs' front three for Suarez, Carroll and Bellamy or van Persie, Arshavin and Walcott. I think bringing Parker in is just what they need. If Modric regains last seasons form and they continue to play Kranjcar who is an excellant player they could well nick it. I feel Spurs also have the strongest squad of the two but Arsenal have the experience and the manager who knows how to finish in the Top 4 season after season and Liverpool also do (bar the past 2 years) anda manager who has been there, done that and is a legend at the club. Dalglish just as manager can lift Liverpool that little bit further as they will always be willing to put that much effort in. I'm undecided. I would have said Arsenal but after losing Fabregas and Nasri their strength in depth is shocking. Liverpool have the manager and squad to be solid but can they step it up to finish above 2 good sides. Tottenham have the players but will they all click?
Tbh I reckon Stoke could be dark horses this season. Pulis has taken so many players who didn't make it at other teams and made them into such an effective unit that the additions of Woodgate, Crouch, Palacios and Upson could give them a chance at challenging provided they avoid injuries. Ok then, I think Arsenal will get 4th As I said on another thread, I think their squad depth is still stronger than Liverpool's, and they will be better able to cope with injuries. I also think they will benefit from the lack of expectation this season, and still have the quality to go on a strong run and pick up a load of points. In contrast, I just don't see Liverpool going on a consistent run of 6-7 great results in a row.
I actually agree with you on both counts Swarbs Arsenal haven't had the best of starts but they are nowhere near as bad as some make out. Of course they are nowhere near United, City or Chelsea, but they are still a class above everybody else and with one or two January signings I could see them just about clinching it ahead of Liverpool. As for Stoke I feel the sooner they are out of Europe the better, whoever gets 3 points at the Brit this season deserves a huge pat on the back because I would be surprised if Stoke lost more than twice at home this season, they are already looking better away from home this season as well, if they can take that form to the likes of the Emirates, Anfield, Goodison, Villa Park, WHL etc then Sky really is the Limit for them as far as I'm concerned. They could easily put out a 2nd team that could survive relegation fairly comfortably I think.
Arsenal look ****ing appalling, their current side are absolute ****e and their Manager has lost the plot. I think Liverpool will come 4th, Spurs 5th, Arsenal mid table.
For fourth? Chelsea or Liverpool. Both are battling it out for 3rd. So obviously one of them will finish 4th.
Very very impressed with Stoke. Tony Pulis and their chairman deserves a massive pat on the back in my opinion. To get to where they are without hardly any money is brilliant. Now they are reaping the rewards. In Europe for the first time and able to splash out nearly £30 in the summer. They will only get stronger in my opinion. The people in charge seem to know what they are doing. A very similar model to Fulham yet Stoke have the fanbase and going to the Brittania is very difficult and with the players they are bringing in it is just going to get even harder. Good luck to them I say.
Thirty quid? Home of the big spenders! Have to say Arsenal, and to be quite honest before the first match was played I predicted that spurs will be 5th and Liverpool will be 6th. Nothing has changed that preddo yet.
