A little bit rough, but it's not the worst part of Newcastle by a long stretch.

Newcastle is the easiest city to get used to. It's not very big and everywhere you'd need to be is within reasonable walking distance. There are no parts of the city centre I would say to avoid so much. You'll have no doubt heard of the infamous Bigg Market, but even that isn't quite as bad as it once was! The rough places are all suburbs of Newcastle that I can imagine you'd have no real need to go to. I've never been to most of them. As for good places to drink, I have no idea because I tend to go to the same places everytime or whatever is cheapest. It'll be a bit of a knacker to get to Newcastle and back from Bedlington though, that'll cost a fortune in a taxi!

Used to know somebody from the area that used these two places. Supposed to be a friendly atmosphere there but it was a while ago so it might have changed.

The only good part of Bedlington is the road leaving.

Ignore Blacker than Knight, Bedlington is cracking little town and a lovely place to live. Cracking golf course too if you like to swing a club. Walker is like any other place, it has its nice bits and its not so nice bits. Bit of trek from Bedlington and as someone suggested, not a cheap taxi run on a night time. £30-35ish.

Bedlington is really nice actually, kind of a 'one road town' but quite pretty. The Terriers ground is really central too, solid little club.

Indeed as Mod Face says Bedlington has a lovely little football club. Get yourself down there, good day out. And you have Spartans just down the road in Mod Faces home town of Blyth. Another well run club to go and watch. Market Tavern on a weekend is a good place to go and watch bands if you like a bit rock music too.

Hmmm yes maybe not as well run as it could be. Probably the wrong phrase to describe it. I think I was more talking about the real family feel you still get at clubs like Terriers and Spartans. They are a good day out and you realise just how much their die hards love their club. I couldn't claim to be a big fan as I've only gone to watch the two clubs sporadically over the years. Went down to Scunthorpe to watch the Terriers away when they had that cup run about 12 years back. Coldest day I've ever had in football. Thankfully our Sunday manager who was behind us going had the sense to take his hip flask. Never have I been so happy to taste the warmth of whisky!!

I know what you mean, yeah. I've never watched Bedlington properly (I've seen them in a friendly at Croft Park), although I would've liked to have been at their game against Stokesley the other week! I like to watch Blyth as often as I can, it's a shame I've only managed two games this season. Always have a good laugh there, and although the crowds aren't very big, there's still a canny atmosphere.

At the end of last season, BSFC sent out a message asking if anyone wanted to help with minor repair jobs during the closed season. Several months later, the Crofton turnstiles still say 'ASS HOLDERS'. Honestly, how hard is it to get a bit of green paint out and paint a P?

Oh and letting go of Dale and Galas (who the fans had clearly found exciting)... brilliant.

Cuggy and Fell seem like they're slowly making progress, the lads seem a bit fitter and all that but yet again, we let a manager who was doing well for us go for no real reason.

    Harry
    2004/05 Unibond - 12th
    2005/06 Unibond - 1st (Treble-winning season)
2006/07 BSN - 7th (Incredibly just missing out on the play-offs!)
2007/08 BSN - 18th (avoided second season syndrome)
    2008/09 BSN - 15th (slight progress)
    RELEASED BY PHONECALL

    Mick Tait
2009/10 BSN - 13th (playing a better style of football too!)
    2010/11 BSN - 9th
    RELEASED

    <doh>

The board has stated they want us to be a Top 8 club in the Conference North and whilst I can maybe understand they felt Harry had taken us as far as he could (thought they could have been more professional in how they handled things), Tait very CLEARLY was improving the team, had us playing on the ground and for goodness sake was TWO POINTS from the target 8th.

I will get behind the Whitley Bay lads and I feel we have more squad depth but the overall quality I feel has dropped and the player turnover will see this as yet another 'bedding in' season where we will flirt with relegation.

    Some stability would be lovely.

Tony Lowery's been at Bedlington since 1995 and with very limited resources has had the club running respectably, attracting a solid support and now with financial backing, could very well push on and get promoted.

Ian Chandler's been at Whitley Bay for 7 years now and has achieved great things in that time, including the famous 'three in a row' FA Vase victory.

Ian Bogie's been at the Heed since 2007 and in that time he's reversed the superiority between Blyth and Gateshead and has left us for dust.

Tait was making great strides in my opinion and given time to continue his improvements could very well have us finishing in a play-off position. Fair enough our FA Cup money was used up servicing debt and improving the ground but I can't help but feel Tait wanted us to move forwards when the board wanted a couple of young men eager to impress (and say yes), allowing our best players to go and replacing them with lower-league squad players.

Attendances are dropping, hmmm I wonder why. It's hard to tell who exactly we are supporting these days. The manager? The players? Who will we be supporting next season?!

I think the craic you get in the stands reminds me of the old days at Newcastle when we still had the standing. We lost some of that and some of the soul of our club when they took away the standing. You don't get the one liners anymore!
