I saw the Stones during their dreadful early 80s tours, when Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood were off their tits on stage and unable to perform. Mick Jagger walked off stage during the second song. It was embarrassing.
First saw The Who at Charlton football ground in 1976 - awesome live. Probably imo only bettered by seeing Led Zep at Knebworth in 79
Yeah, I saw Led Zep at Knebworth. Never saw The Who though. Had the album "Who Live at Leeds", and saw the film of one of the Charlton concerts. Would love to have seen them live, but I was a bit young really.
Think it was @Tel who gave you that nickname Kipper. Mainly coz you always stitch yourself up like a Kipper.
I saw The Who about five or six years back. Zac Starkey was on drums, he was pretty good actually. Unfortunately, the sound system kept breaking down so the whole show was continually disrupted and a bit **** to be honest. Charlatans supported, they were ok.
I think it weird when people say The Beatles were ****. It's as if it makes them uber edgy to say it. The clearly weren't ****, they were brilliant and pioneers of their time. They also evolved into great musicians and were prolific in their output. Rightly seen as one of the best bands.
Why have peolle liked my anti pep post...its supposed to be an unpopular view not a ****ing love in you dozy thundercunts AND YES ... I AM ****ING GRUMPY... #blamethemanflu
Hence why i posted my view here, because it is an unpopular opinion. I've never ever claimed they were not genius in their individual right, but as a group there was so much hysteria I really didn't get. Anyone that has been professionally trained will know that the Beatles has to form part of that learning process, so accolade in itself, but it's an avenue I always refused to venture down - the majority of the population are tone death when it comes to music, but i found their music drone on boring, lacking their genius and paving the way for what is my hatred of manufactured boy bands, with a boring style that appealed to the masses and still does today. The sadness with this is uniqueness gets overlooked for what sells.
Nothing to do with being edgy it's an opinion, I respect you don't agree with that opinion, but it's still my view.
I’m with brb on this. The Beatles, whilst they wrote some very popular songs just don’t do it for me. I just find their music bland. The Stones in the other hand. Superb.
But that is just it... I don't. It is you who comes out with the best comedy gold classics, Pix. As we have all seen, down the years.
I, too, like the Stones. Over the years, in various bands, I have played a number of their songs - Paint It Black, Start Me Up, Brown Sugar, Wild Horses, Jumping Jack Flash, Satisfaction, etc. That's why I was so disappointed when I saw them live, when Richards and Wood were too drugged up to play. Clearly, they didn't give a fcuk about the audience.
I saw them at Wembley around 1992 and they were brilliant. Even though it’s a huge arena and you lose all of the intimacy of a small venue they still sounded superb. Mick Jagger who was probably in his early 50’s then was more energetic than a 25 year old.
