Brexit will probably be biggest party but overall will be as divided as these results - Tories and Labour will lose votes to Brexit party and a small amount to UKIP. Very small amount of Tories will switch votes to Lib-Dems but Labour will also lose votes to Lib-Dems, Change and Greens.
In Australia voting is compulsory so anyone unhappy with either of the main parties usually votes for one of the minor ones, the Greens being the norm. Consequently the Greens start crowing about how popular they and that the electorate is turning to them. They don't realise, or don't accept, that the public don't give a s**t about them, but they have to vote for someone. Still, it gives them a warm, fuzzy feeling and a reason the stick their collective snouts further into the trough.
Well luckily voting isn't compulsory in the UK so I didn't vote for any of the self serving ****s, and the fact the Libtards got in and ousted the Tories where I live (Chelmsford) I really couldn't give less of a ****.
Just been reading the results (so far) of your elections and Mrs May is quoted as having said the 'the public want the main parties to get on and sort out BREXIT'. She said that? She's been the one holding up all the negotiations as far as I can see. Honestly, it's enough to drive a European plutocrat to drink ('cause I'm pretty he couldn't drive himself).
Also Tories so far have lost 602 seats, Labour lost 82, Ukip lost 65 whilst (all officially Brexit parties) Lib Dems gained 389 and Greens gained 71 (remain parties). But as I say it's more ambigious than that so people can and will claim it anyway they want.
That's the point,Tories and Labour aren't Brexit party's,and both will lose massively come the MEP elections.Where you will see the biggest ever swing to a new party. No one has mentioned the turnout yet, think it will be the lowest ever, and the liberals probably not got many new voters, just Tories and Labour didn't vote out of disgust.
But neither Tories or Labour are remain parties so will lose a lot of votes to Lib-Dems, Greens and Change in the Euro elections. (and definitely to the Brexit party from leave voters). And yes turnout wll be low and these elections will not reflect intention for a general election - they are being used as single issue elections. Many people will use these elections to give both main parties a fully justified kicking but will then hold their noses and vote for them when other issues come into play and push comes to shove ina general election.
got to disagree,Labour are the biggest remain party with 90% plus voting against everything Brexit.SNP,DLP,Liberals would all be irrelevant if Labour had delivered on their manifesto.
Labour's official policy is to deliver on the referendum result but without costing the economy or losing worker rights and standards. Now because of the situation they're in (strong in a lot of remain areas but also historically strong in a lot of brexit areas) they've had to play a dual game of seeming pro brexit in brexit areas and seeming pro remain in remain areas.. but that's a double edged sword and will bite them in these two elections where remainers will give them a kicking for being too brexity and brexiteers will give them a kicking for being too remainy. And as I say the'll deserve it but what will be key is how much that would hold over to a general election or if they'll be forced to finally choose one side of the fence
For the first time in my life I didn't vote either. Was in the front garden the day befor the elections and had a visit from a member of the Green Party told him politicians had made such a mess of everything that I was not going to vote, he informed me that most people were saying the same thing. Our system is f--cked.
Corbyn and Co are for remaining in the Customs Union, which means we don't leave the EU lock stock and barrel. Mental case May and her croney followers are desperately trying to keep us in the EU cos they're working with Soros and Co. During the big general election, I think you'll find a big rise for UKIP and some Independants, probably bigger than the Brexit party. The populist right have risen all over Europe, the corrupt Governments, paid by Soros and Co are being ousted, it'll be our turn at the next General Election.
Obviously all the idiots who voted for the Lib Dumbs didn't know what they were voting for so therefore we should have another "peoples vote"
Brexit backlash in more detail. Tories lost 1332 Councils, Labour lost 81.........I think that basically says "We want Brexit without the dog leads".
Without a clear BREXIT party I suspect most of the swing was down to people wanting to vote for parties that want to remain. So I think this particular vote showed a number of remainers voting in that way. When there is a viable BREXIT party, and if they get lots of votes, then I think you will be right.
As many have said, today represented a protest vote against Tories and Labour alike, but the abstinent or protesting voters will revert to type when anything is really at stake, like a General Election. I mean, they wouldn't allow the Lib Dems an uncontested walk in if it really mattered, would they?
The remain parties are both Tories and Labour, to be more specific, Treasonous May and her cronies, and cabbage face Corbyn and his cronies, but not all MP's; which makes them both remain parties. Both Tories and Labour lost Councils, Tories more than Labour cos of T May. If voters wanted to remain, and voted for those parties who want to remain, they should've / could've voted for either Treasonous May or Cabbage faced Corbyn, but they didn't. Both parties lost seats. Most people voted cos of their disgust with both the Tory and Labour parties, many voted with a protest vote (disgusted with Tory and Labour parties), some didn't vote cos they didn't think it worth it (disgusted with Tory and Labour parties). I don't understand why you think most voted for the remain parties.
