Because it was Souness, only Newcastle PL manager who would have been stupid enough to make such a decision.

It was my intention to put Hughes in with the Centre Backs, hes pretty versatile at the back so didnt know where to stick him really!

This, Hughes is the best RB we've had in PL.

Im surpised so many people have voted Beye tbh. Would have thought you'd be holding a grudge, against him. Much like Duff

I'm sure he was Sir Bobby's first choice right back when we were in the Champions League.

Yes! That's why I would pick him! Remember those fantastic CL seasons.. back in 2001-2002-2003?.. Yeah Hughes was rock solid!

I think a lot of people do, but he was quality during his time with us and always gave 100%. It was strange how he just disappeared when he went to Villa.

Venison at CB, just for that long range effort he cleared off the line with an overhead kick that time.

The underrated and often excessively criticised Barton gets my vote. Personally i always liked the lad and hate it when any of our players gets stick from our large number of boo boys and often find myself supporting them maybe more than they deserve because of it. Also love the way he still supports us. Agree tho that Hughes might have pipped him if included in the vote. Could never understand why he was sold especially so cheaply.

If Warren Barton gets in ahead of Watto there is something seriously wrong! Don't get me wrong I liked Barton and loved the way he overcame a sticky start (he was ****e to be honest and some fans were even booing him). But Watto was a much better player for me, and as a local lad he gave 120% every week. It was a disgrace he was jettisoned as he was versatile too. Much like we did with Aaron Hughes. Still good enough to be PL and part of one the leagues best defences last year.

Beye was the best one, I think the fact 29 people so far have voted for Barton suggests people think its their favorite not best. Barton was a decent guy who was well respected by the fans but not good enough unfortunately and Robson knew that deep down.

Haha, whoops, good job you found out early on then! Those who've won did so by quite a margin anyway so yeah.

Plus how can it not be Watto? Remember his early days under Ossie when he still did his acrobatic throw in?
