Haggas runs an interesting Royal runner at Lingfield today called Shrewdness. She’s a Lawman fully out of a mare called Shama, who was bred by the Aga Khan but ran for the Queen. Shama was a big filly who like Shrewdness ran once as a 2yo. As a 3yo she won a small AW maiden and then was thrown into the deep end in the Musidora. She failed and her form then tailed off.
Last season Shrewdness must have showed something as she got a Fillies mile entry which she did not meet and her only run was in a back-end Newbury maiden. She hails from the Aga’s Shergar family and is just the sort of filly Haggas does well with.
She is under the radar today and honestly I don’t think she’ll win but will be disappointed if she does not show some ability. A small E-W investment or just a watching brief seems in order today but next time out...?

Agree though don’t think being hampered cost her the race.

But good seasonal debut in 5th,as did not get the run of the race. Shaped as worth trying over 7f

Well Shrewdness ran well and despite dominating the race was as green as grass: the whole way round and none more so than in the finish.. Definitely a maiden to follow but will be better on a flatter track like Newbury, York or Newmarket..

Bell has a debutant 2yo filly entered at Newmarket on Saturday called Via Veritas. The trainer usually gets at least one good filly out early every year. Would not be surprised if this is this years. If she runs O'Donoghue could be in the plate.
