I agree, the first hour and a half Was boring as hell.

Hero 6/10 - good plot, but lacking something, could've been better (reminded me of Scarface a bit)

One I'd recommend - 1987 When the Day Comes.
Based on a true story, if you haven't seen it then well worth a watch. Think you'll like it, story and cast are excellent.

 

Hero is a visual spectacle. An absolute assault on the ocular senses. Granted the plot struggles from hole to hole but what a visual spectacle.

It's not the best Wuxia film ever made but it's up there.

 

Watch House of flying daggers. Zhang Yimou's very next film. It is a masterpiece.

Even The great wall, Yimou's dally in Hollywood was visually spectacular despite being a pretty shìt film.

 

Yeah that's a great film.

 

I've seen House of Flying Daggers. Agree it's a brilliant film all round - clever plot and visually stunning

I like the look of the other two you've mentioned ( I saw the devil, memoir of murderer) so will add these to the list.

FWIW if you like visually stunning check out The Fall. As close to perfection a film can be. Spectacular with story telling at its finest.

 

For all out kung fooey, arse kicking action watch The Raid and Raid2.

Is The Rain any use?

 

Yeah, it makes the plants and flowers grow beautifully.

There's a lot to be said for precipitation. Vastly undervalued in my opinion.

 

I watched the pilot when it first came out. Didn't think much of it tbh.

Dinged off GoTs and have been watching The Blacklist. Its very very good.

Still holding off watching season 4 until all are out.
