Granted, Barton has brought a lot of his troubles on himself by his past actions, but there isn't a single player in the league more unfairly treated than he is. Remember the rough treatment he had to put up with from Wolves? The officials did sod all while the MOTD pundits, including Alan Shearer, merely laughed. Why? Because he was Joey Barton. Fair enough, that's the point I'm trying to make. He wasn't biased, just got two HUGE decisions wrong, and wasn't consistent. And I do really think Barton has been good this season, but the amount of niggling fouls he makes go along with his reputation to make him one of the most hated players.
