We are hopeful but if Rafa does a job on us, we need miracles.

Sadly we have got to a point where resting players for Barcelona is now pointless and the league is a lost cause. Hurry up August

Rafa may do us a favour but in any case we should be beating them quite easily even if they put 11 men in their penalty area for 90 minutes.

Huge points difference between the 2 teams.

Wtf has points diference between 2 teams got to do with it?

Unbeaten runs have usually come against teams near or bottom of table.

Remember middlesborough years ago? Most one sided game ever see in your life and the scoreline was 0-0

    Meh..
Doesn't really matter, we can't gain or lose position now. Brodgers has basically already said he will roll over for City to rest his players for final game.

It has been a fantastic season even if we didn't win anything. This is our first Summer friendly. Hopefully next year will be better.

The fact is Newcastle since they got safe have played decently

they are supposed to be very good at home.

    However:

0-1 loss to spurs at home.
    1-1 v wolves away
2-0 v huddersfield who had man sent off...
2-0 v burnely away (burnely are **** away)
    0-2 west ham away
    3-2 v everton home.
    2-2 v bournemouth isn't very good (away)
0-2 to arsenal away.. pretty bad
0-1 v palace at home not good
1-0 v Leicester away. good. (shows leciester aint up to much)
3-1 v southampton home. Decent. were behind i think? Its only decent thoug
1-1 v brighton away. dogfight but just enough

thats a mixed bag of results dating back to when they beat city at home in january.

5-4-3 record with the 5 wins being huddersfield, burnely, everton, leicester and southampton (in other words 2 midtable and 3 relegation candidates)
Losses are spurs and arsenal and palace

I'm sorry but the only thing that is not in our favour here is we played barca and got beat and have to pick ourselves up then go play barca right after this.

    energy is the only doubt.

Theres enough these to say... perez is their threat, mark him out of it and we won't lose. Score a goal and the game is there for taking.

Look I think their keeepr is good and they've done a good job defending but they are where they are cos of one man and its up to us to show our quality.

Honestly, I don't think we can change either trophy. We're second in league and a semi finalist in CL.

That said, Newcastle has to be the bigger game. Forget Barcelona.

We're far more likely to have City screw up (all it takes is a flash of red or a moment of stupidity) than we are to overturn a 3 goal defecit against Barcelona.

We should go into the league game with no thoughts of the second leg against Barcelona. No energy reserve, no worrying about fresh legs against Barcelona... Just play Newcastle as if it were a cup final.

We may still have a 1 in 20 chance of winning the league... But our chance of winning Champions League now is more like 1 in 200.

The league is the better odds so that should be our major focus.

    so?

I never said we #mustwin or whatever. I only said we have to turn it around and show our quality and i don't see newcastle as being any better really than other sides we've beaten

Yes its highly highly unlikely man city will lose. they've a full what 8 or 9 days to prepare for leicester and its at home then 5 days to get ready for brighton. 1/20 might even be generous.

Theres zero margin for the CL. When salah hit post a 1/50 shot become 1/1000. I eman ok we saw real beat juve last year but even though we joke about it LFC don't have control of refs like real do :) For LFC to beat barca 3-0 over 90mins would be really bizarre gvien barca have the league i nthe bag and will rest all players. Its so unlikley that its about pride. at least dont lose at home as well sort of thing.

Just get the points off newkie then go.

Then if the final day requires one final great push what harm cos the players have a months and a half holidays before preseason cos we won't have a cl final.
