Can be quite brilliant, but at other times looks like a park player. Gives away possession a lot too. Scores wonder goals then misses a sitter like tonight.
Yet again, if you don't take your chances against these top sides, you get punished. No chance for Liverpool in the second leg imo.
Great open game at the Nou Camp. I do question Klopps tactics slightly. Why play wijnaldum up front?? When Firmino and Origi are on the bench?? I could understand it if he was playing behind them at the top of midfield but he was up front. Bizarre. Firmino likes to drop ever so slightly anyway and has a good scoring record in the champions league.
I don’t think Firmino is fully fit. I’m not sure Origi is up to it yet but might have been a better choice than Wijnaldum in that position. I didn’t see much of the game so I’m probably wrong but I think Klopp just wanted Liverpool to play his heavy metal football as far as possible against a team like Barca with the players available to him. I suspect he was prepared to let a couple of goals in, but would have thought that Liverpool would score at least one as well. As they should have from the little I saw. All over now though. What a free kick from Messi.
Was enjoying the match until Barca spoiled it by scoring. Can Liverpool score 4 and not concede? Unlikely!
I reckon they can. One early one, then the crowd will do the rest. They'll get 4, concede in the 89th minute and score 2 in injury time.
I think the plan was to stick someone close to Busquets. Looked like their usual formation to me, 4-3-3, occasionally slipping into a diamond in midfield. I don't think Origi is good enough, especially to play centrally. Liverpool were quite open, but, for me, they held their own and Klopp can't be blamed for his players missing so many chances.
Salah’s post hitting exploits at the end may prove to be costly. That away goal would have been invaluable. I can see Barcelona scoring at least one away goal at Anfield, which will mean Liverpool needing 5-1 to progress. Unlikely. If the Scousers make it to the final of this one it’d be one of the most impressive turnarounds ever, I reckon, certainly surpassing their triumph against Milan.
He certainly cant. I do sometimes wonder why teams who play all season a certain way then suddenly change it or personel. Firmino would have been better suited playing in the position he has played in all season, rather than Winjaldum. Guarantee you he starts un the normal 3 up top at home but it will be too little too late.
Not gonna happen Ubes. As you say, just one away goal would have made all the difference. Barca are bound to score at least once at Anfield imo.
Firminho was coming back from injury mate and I think they were hoping to just give him a short run out. Perhaps they should have started with him and seen how long he lasted. It would have been the usual front three had he been fully fit. I thought Gomez was a stranger pick over Trent Alexander-Arnold. Gomez, who I rate very highly, looked rusty as hell and doesn't have Alexander-Arnold's delivery.
I agree, was surprised to see Gomez there. I believe he is much better suited at centre back. But enough about liverpool, cant be doing with them anyway!!
