For us he would be. Was only wondering what his price would be. He seems like he might be the next big sale from them. Either him Benrahma or Konza.

Can't imagine that's serious at this stage. Klose's agent could be offering him around to be able to say "my player is in great demand therefore Norwich need to offer a good contract" or paper talk using the logic of "benchwarming Swiss international needs a move to a big club who'll pay big wages", but I can't imagine there's any real substance to it.

Klose clearly likes being here, and knows realistically his only chance of Prem football in the rest of his career is with us, now. He'll also know that it only takes one injury or red card for either CB and he'll have a chance for an extended run in the side. Unless our contract offering is desultory, I expect him to be here next season.

Hanley still has 4.5 years on his Norwich contract, but I could see us listening to offers for him. Much in the same way Johnson left because the money was too good to pass up, I could see the same with Hanley. I'm not sure he's as suited to Farkeball as our other CB options, and is currently 4th choice. I could see him wanting first team football if offered, his situation is incredibly similar to when he joined from newly promoted Newcastle.

As you've alluded to with Brentford, I think the shrewdest business we could do there is to recruit from their scouting team. Whatever they are doing is clearly working, and could only add to what Webber's team are currently achieving.

To completely contradict myself...the club interviewed the partners of McLean, Pukki, Klose and Hanley. Hanley's partner said:

"Grant relishes in that sort of environment [being a leader] and for him it’s always the bigger picture. He absolutely loves Norwich, he loves the team and all he wants is for the team to do well, so the big thing for him just now is supporting the boys. For him he has played in so many Championship games and Premiership games so it’s about helping the boys, encouraging them and giving them the right support."

So perhaps he won't be interested in a move. Given he's only 27, I'm surprised it sounds like he's almost settled into that background role.

Meanwhile, Mrs Pukki admits to wearing a Teemu shirt!

The implication seems to be that every position will be open to competition when pre-season starts. Zimmerman and Godfrey won't be guaranteed starting places and that's the way it should be. Success in the Championship doesn't always mean success in the PL.

Also, I think we may well play 3 at the back for away matches and against the big sides and that will give more chances. Godfrey (and Ajayi, if he signs) could move up into the DM position when we have the ball up the pitch and then drop back into the 3 when the ball is lost, creating more movement and fluidity all over.

Same thoughts here JMF - seems to lack the passion and integrity our squad has and ergo would be a poor fit.

Much as I'd like to have an Elvis in the squad, €8m seems a big chunk of the available funds for another midfielder considering that we need a striker, at least one wide player and RB as well. The German source, Bild, is now saying he'd prefer to stay in the Bundesliga.

Wriedt wouldn't come cheap and even if others arrive on free transfers, there's sign on fees and wages to consider. That would include Babel if we were ever interested and if so, whether he'd be prepared to do double training sessions and fit into the team togetherness. I trust SW and DF to make the right judgement about that.

I've kept a list of possible signings on my phone, which now includes Rexhbecaj:

Mehdi Zeffane RB/WL (Rennes) FT (26)
Nick Powell AM (Wigan) FT (25)
    Kwasi Wriedt S (Bayern) 22goals/7ast £3m
    Semi Ajayi CB/DM (Rotherham) £3m? (25)
Elvis Rexhbecaj AM (Wolfsburg) €8m (21)
    Kostas Fortounis AM/W(Olympiacos) 26
Yoann Barbet CB (Brentford) FT 25
Ryan Babel AM/S (Fulham) FT 31
Kasey Palmer CM (Chelsea) £4m 22
    Harrison Reed CM/RB (Saints) Loan

    Have I missed any?

    Desultory.

The more I learn about Mehdi Zeffane, the better he sounds:

"Zeffane is a versatile wide player who can play at both right-back and left-back, as well as further up the pitch as a winger on either flank. Noted for his tenacity, work-rate, good game-reading ability and well-rounded passing attributes, the 11-cap Algerian ace has the ability to cut out attacks with crucial tackles and interceptions, while also showing the willingness to venture forward to support the attack."

If he can function in all of those positions it could mean we'd only need one wide player this window. Ben Marshall was meant to have those attributes, but he never seemed to click in Farkeball. Zeffane could also be useful coming on as sub up the pitch if we're trying to protect a lead.

Not sure if Carlton Morris or Srbenny are good enough for the Premier league and at 23 and 24 years old respectively they may need to be loaned out or moved on to get first team football or free up space in our 23 man squad squad .

We have a few very exciting youth prospects coming through that wouldn't count notably Adam Idah who has been scouted by some very big clubs last season and doing brilliantly for the Republic of Ireland.

Srbeny I think we need to try and sell.
    Morris needs a Championship loan.
Idah looks a real talent, I think he could come in like Max and Todd have. Involve him in the first team squad.

Who are leaving on a free? Isn't Naismith and Jarvis's contracts up this Summer? Anyone else? Wildschut? Husband or Franke? Would be nice to free up the mass of wages wasted there. Nelson needs to leave, and I'm unsure about Pinto. I don't think he would be involved, but could he be another McGovern type. He has had a lot of praise for his support and help with the likes of Max on the training pitch and in the changing room.

Not sure about Raggett. Don't think he would be involved in the Prem, so another Championship loan? Or is he not good enough to keep?

Passlacks wages will be freed up too I suppose.

Pinto Passlack and Cantwell all have contracts that run out 30/06/2019 Cantwell hopefully will get another year extension the other 2 will leave I would Imagine.

Nelson is out of contract 31/05/2019
    Franke 30/06/2019
    Raggat 31/05/2019
    All 3 will go

McGovern just signed a 2 year extension
    Srbeny has 2 more years

    Morris has a year left

Adam Idah is only 18 and I don't think he's signed a contract yet so could be poached, I imagine most of the loose ends will be sewn up at the end of June

Likewise Klose with the younger CB's, another reason I'd be happy to see him and Ivo stay around.
Realistically, whether we like it or not, there will be interest in some of our stars - Aarons, Godfrey and Buendia for certain. So maybe we need to wait and see how genuine any interest in those three (or any others) is before making too many radical calls about keeping or clearing out existing squad members.?

Unless ridiculous money is offered I don't think we will sell anyone, they put in so much work to get to the Premier league and they would be crazy to throw away starting against the best in the World under a manager that clearly has faith in them and likely to play them every week for a few extra quid and a seat on the bench.

If we failed to go up we would most likely lose all 4...

We are building something special here and I believe they have all bought into it .

The TV money is something like £120 -£150m with parachute payments now so we don't need the money

I admire your optimism but can't share it - we've seen our best players syphoned off as soon as they reach their peak - or someone dangles a decent enough wedge in front of the CEO.
Sutton, Bellamy, Fox, Ashton, Ashley Ward, etc. It's ingrained into the psyche of this football club and despite platitudes to the contrary, I wouldn't rule it out despite the inflated sums of TV cash headed our way next season. I'd love to be wrong, mind, but.....:emoticon-0112-wonde

It would be mental to sign the young players that got us promoted the biggest price I have seen is £15m for Max seeing as he's only what 19 years old we spent over £8m on Klose what would be the point ?

They will be told that they can leave if we get relegated Pukki at 29 isn't worth silly money .

A 20 year old 29 goal Pukki would be off no doubt about that..
I have been right about alot this season and I'm 90% convinced Godrey Lewis Max and Buendia will be staying put .
Add to that Zimmermann Stiepermann Vrancic Pukki Leitner and McLean.

Hernandez may be sold and Krul may be upgraded Tettey has a year left and will probably go back to Norway .

Hanley may be sold if he wants to play regularly.

Farke has worked miracle on a shoe string sell his best players and he will piss off to a bigger club when his stock is highest .
