https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/17...through-excruciating-pain-on-second-iron-man/ Benali is struggling on day 2...didn't we all warn him Apparently he is only eating half the calories he needs and he said before he started that that was the area where previous attempts have failed....and he can't sit on his cycle saddle all the time because of the pain. Anyone got a cushion?
Absolute hero. I’ve got no idea, unfathomable notion of the actual feat. Hope he looks after himself & achieves all targets.
Problem is, no matter how much physical and mental strength and endurance he has, if you aren't getting enough calories you'll suffer to the point of physically not being able to do it and collapsing. Somehow getting in the calories has got to be a big priority. Fran and his team will know that, hopefully they can work out a way to get enough calories into him throughout the day because in his short off time he'll need the sleep!
His main chance to eat is on the bike...not easy, especially if you have to crouch because the saddle hurts.
Well he’s completed the 3rd day swim and has set off on the bike ride. According to his wife Karen he woke her up in the night calling out “my legs!” The man, as described by one of his friends accompanying him on the cycle ride, is a lunatic, but one with the heart of a lion. Keep going, Franny, but please don’t be afraid to say “Enough”.
Franny has been joined for part of the 3rd day marathon in Bristol by a certain Matthew Le Tissier. This could end badly...
Day three... done. Keep going, Franny. Keep going. I would be absolutely amazed if he gets through the full seven days as I've kind of felt for a while that this could be a bridge too far.
Seems to be really struggling today; cant help but think this is too much for him to take on. Regardless it is bloody incredible what he has achieved so far. How he hasn't raised £1m yet is beyond me. You'd think Saints could encourage the footballing world to open their extremely large wallets!
If it was Scholes, or Ferdinand, or someone more high-profile, it'd be all over the place and they've have smashed £1m a couple of years back.
