sour sour taste in your large mouth mucker, face facts we beat you simple as, as we did last season at the brittania, we have spent a tiny tiny tiny amount of money compared to liverpool and i,m afraid you cannot accept the fact that you are not good enough to break down a defence which stood firm, to the rest of the liverpool fans you have my respect.

I think its fair to say you should have had one penalty - Delap's handball, not Upson's.

It's fair to say you deserved more out of the game than you got.

But it's also fair to say that we defended incredibly well. Not only did we make some good tackles, but I personally enjoy watching players throw themselves in front of shots and giving their all for their team. Stoke City players have passion and they have it in abundance. I enjoy that and it fills me with pride that I support a team like that.

Yes you played better football, but there's no point in Liverpool fans saying we played the game in the wrong way or that our football is awful to watch, because if we'd tried to play the same passing game as Liverpool we would probably have been spanked and although it might have been better for some people to watch, football is about winning games and doing whatever it takes to win those games. Yesterday, playing tippy tappy passing football would almost definitely not have ended in 3 points for Stoke. We go out to win games and, despite opinion to the contrary, win them as fairly as possible. I've read comments about our dirty tactics yesterday, but according to the stats Liverpool committed more fouls and received the only yellow card, so those comments aren't justified.

As I said in an earlier post: you'll play worse and win and we'll play better and lose, but that's football, you have to take the rough with the smooth, get on with it and look forward to the next game.

    Crazy horse..
ONE penalty yes NOT TWO... but we should have seen Neville sent off and Rooney for a blatant ELBOW into Huth's face last season. We lost but guess what...
We didn't keep on about it because sadly. Some refs art total ****wits, useless and I've seen a better standard of ref's in the local parks leagues.

IF Jamie C had fallen over, the ref would have given a free kick to Liverpool, I've just seen it for the first time. Walters didn't do anything wrong..
Take another look at the Baggies penalty today too! Odemwingi spelling is "clearly" fouled it's blatant when seen on t.v. BUT, the Norwich fans are saying it wasn't a pen..

Some you get, some you don't. I remember our FIRST season promoted, we hardly got a decision go for us now, we do seem to at least get our fair share.

Well if you believe that barging into another player with a forearm smash is "not doing anything wrong" then you should be watching Rugby!

Having said that, I agree with you - some you get and others you don't. If anything, it only adds to the argument that the 4th official should have the ability to use video evidience.

That Stoke defended valiantly is undoubted. That we only have ourselves to blame with the Suarez and Henderson misses is also true. As others have said we'll play less well and win and you'll play better and lose - that's football! Good Luck for the rest of the season.

Lets not forget Gerrard's goal against you that got wrongly disallowed!! We would've gone on to win comfortably had that been given in 2008 in my opinion.

I think all liverpool fans need to get off stokes cases cos stoke did thier job very well... how many time have we seen us play that way under rafa in europe and call it a good result... get off the high horses.

Our critisim should lay at the feet of our own lot. Kuyt... my god what was he doing on that pitch? he offered absolutely nothing i nthat arena. Bellamy and carroll came on and changed it up for us.

bellamy interoduced pace and directness, downing should have done the same but wanted to be infield off the right. this is a PROBLEM. we ened to get him out wide right or left and make him start there, fine uct in when in possession but don't stand 20 yards in as a starting position.

as for carragher.... well what do you expect? he's always at it and its getting on to high time he was dropped. organising is one thing fine but every one on one and he's a disaster... two flogs, two games...

Same for henderson, fine say he's young but he lost the head totally. the first chance clean through well i'd have socred it that was awful, he then just panicked. kenny was right to whip him off.

Johnson pulling his hamstring 2 mins in must lend credance to the thought that this guy is now a busted lfush injury wise and needs to go into rehab longer term and we must be careful with kelly.

I was annoyed with Downing when he switched over the right, continually cutting inside however he did put in some good crosses from the right.

Henderson has potential but he shouldn't be starting. Completely choked when clean through and expected him to do better. However, he is young and still settling down.

IMO - Kuyt has always been the same. He doesn't contribute a lot throughout the entire game, but he is usually involved in a pivotal moment in a game i.e. goal or assist. I think he's one of those who is a good squad player but not one we should rely on.

Carra has made a few mistakes this season and I worry this may be the end of him. I did feel a little sorry for him because he was practically knocked over my Walters and for a team that prides itself on being strong and hard, Walters went down far too easily. What Carra does bring is leadership and organisation to the defence - skills that I don't think any of our other defenders can do at the moment.

All in all, we deserved 3 points. We attacked, kept possession and dominated. We had the chances but didn't take them - it's not as if we were poor and deserved to lose which IMO makes a defeat that much harder to swallow. I rather we keep the same positive mentality into the next game because we will win more games if we play like we did against Stoke.

Yep, I remember that Gerrard goal that wasn't given.. those above who say.. let's move on now sure we both will. I usually say more about the actually games we've played. But, I had a more important appointment on Saturday.. much more important than one football result.
we both move on and I'm sure that Liverpool can and WILL be right up there this season.

    Good luck to Liverpool <ok>

I haven't posted since the match because I've been having a little sulk.
I've just read through this and want to add that although I was thoroughly disappointed with the result, I think Stoke played their game well.
A lot of decisions went against us, I think Carragher was fouled first and we should have had one penalty (not two), but football has never been fair and if it was there would be no point in watching it because the best assembled team would always win.
Analysis of the reasons we failed is fair enough, but we had plenty of chances to score and didn't take them, on another day we'll have far fewer and score.
These setbacks always happen, and are part of the learning process when you are building a new team with a different approach to the one we've had recently. We have to learn and move on.
To the stokies on here- well done and good luck for the season. There's been a good relationship between both sets of fans on here so it would be a shame for it to degenerate into pointless argument over different styles etc.
    See you in January.

  16. Thanks you guys, I agree we need to part friends. Good luck for the rest of the season. I think with Kenny at the helm you should finish in the top 4 where, lets face it, you belong.

As for Stoke, a top ten finish and a decent run in the Europa League would be very good. In reality I just want us to get to the magic 40 points in the Prem as quickly as possible.
