There was a long debate on Talksport last night about who should decide who should continue, the player or the medical staff, it was heated. Maybe, just maybe Eriksen will come good in Amsterdam.
It appears Edmund has sent the board into a state of shock. Me too, wondering how that was trawled up from my memory and the realisation that you tube keeps it alive
WT ACTUAL F did I do that deserved THAT???? I wasted 1min 54 seconds of what little time I have left on this earth watching that monstrosity
The dust has settled a bit now - that Ajax team are something special aren’t they. A lot of the narrative has made them out to be this young band of merry tryers forcing their way past the big boys by sheer power of will, but they have some outstanding players, young or not, who will be big names for a decade or more to come. All that said... They’re beatable. We shouldn’t fear going to Amsterdam, and we’ve been digging our results with our backs against the wall in the CL as well. We’ve shown a lot of spirit in the CL this season too and showed we can cause them problems in the second half. All is not lost.
Perhaps my memory is a little hazy but I'm pretty sure we lost last night and at the weekend? 12 defeats in the league this season compared to 7 last and 4 the season before might suggest otherwise.
Yep. It's only because the chasing pack have been so ****, that we're in the unthinkable position of still being third - with a squad that is threadbare and ready to breakdown. If we get a CL spot this season, Poch has performed miracles.
He's always sounded like that Spud. Part because the danish are notoriously chilled about everything apart from lego, part because he just isn't a passionate, fiery character. And for that reason I can't see a character like Zidane taking to him.
Given that one of the most common symptoms of concussion is confusion and disorientation, there's not a shred of logic in even asking the player for their opinion let alone acting on that opinion. It's the equivalent of asking a drunk if they're ok to drive. Accept the answer at your own peril. We pay these people decent money to do a decent job. I'm sure @O.Spurcat enjoys greater insight into what our physios do and don't do, but for me my tin foil hat is firmly on my head now. For 2 years I've been wondering why we have such bad 'luck' with injuries, why players with seemingly minor problems vanish for months on end. Having witnessed that shambles last night and watching my favourite player staggering off the pitch, my mind is firmly made up. Our medical staff are the problem.
Me as well, read my posts from about 18 months ago. The first time I said that he was the MoM, most of the guys on here thought I'd raided Spurlock's stash.
No your memory is fine...point I was making was teams don’t beat us 2-0/3-0 etc etc....beating us by the odd goal isn’t an easy victory Therefore we won’t get hammered...it’s the other end we need to sort out and I think we can still go through.
Ten Hag has already said he fears Sonny, now is that some sort of psychological message or not I wonder? Trying to make sense of these 1-0 results, 4-3 for instance and scraping by in the CL by inches. Could that hitting the woodwork come back to haunt Ajax? Can we get a 1-2 in Holland? Will Poch learn to play 4 at the back and a diamond midfield which worked last night? Can we get a 2 goal win on Saturday? Will Pool and Barca play a bad match tonight? I'm certain we can get to the final given Ajax's home record. Will any more players be fit? Forest of question marks.
Now we see why you can’t really afford to take a transfer window ‘off’? When there are holes in the squad...the transfer window should be used to plug them or when it comes to the business end...things like this can happen You don’t win Champions leagues with patched up sides and squad fillers. Speculation> accumulation Poch deserves to be backed with a war chest I will save this conversation for the summer.
1 nil away to them Now it’s our chance to make the most of the Away game. They scored 1 goal in 90...I reckon we can get more. People are waxing lyrical about this Ajax team...they’re decent. We were accused of beating an ageing Madrid team last year...they went onto to win the CL. Ajax did play an ageing Madrid team this season We played the newest toy in town and dismantled them in Borussia Dortmund...everyone shut up for a bit Then we beat England’s finest, CL favourites and money bags City...everyone shuts up for a bit People can say what they want but City were miles better than Ajax and I don’t think this Ajax team is God’s gift. It’s up to us if we want this we can do this. Media talk **** and social media does the rest...I’m not buying the hype...they’ve got ****ty Dusan Tadic of Southampton rejection scoring 35+ goals for them.
Very simple for the 2nd leg : 1. Must win the game to reach the final. 2. Scoring first will pile the stress onto Ajax. Simple mission statement (for simple players) . I saw enough yesterday to know that Ajax will not endure a typical Spurs PL MF press for much of a game. Whether the personnel to do so (Sissoko, Alli/Eriksen with a boot up their behinds etc) will turn up, is another story (time will soon tell on that) .
They’re a very good team but we’ve pulled off a few results against other very good, arguably better, teams this year and in past CL campaigns. Next two weeks are huge for us, need to scrape over the line for top 4 - arguably the biggest weeks of Poch’s Spurs tenure so far. Win the next three games and we have an excellent season (given the circumstances) in the bag, with one game to play to make it an unforgettable one.
Every other time he has played a diamond he has got abuse on here. We were mot compact enough at the start with Dele and Eriksen too far forward which left Wanyama exposed while one of the centre backs was spare and wasted. Poch sorted that when Verthongen was injured. I imagine he thought Sissoko was too much of a risk at the start.
