Look there's really 4 things with keeping.

    1. Get body between ball and goals at all times. There's drills and **** for that and where to put your leg say when picking up ball or getting down on a low shot. Young people let those last so many times. It's the basics.

    2. How to dive. It's surprising but kids need confidence they wont get hurt to do it right.

    3. How to protect yourself.

    4. The biggest single thing to drill into a keeper is to get the ball away from goal. It doesn't need to be held it needs to go away from goal not out into the middle.

If the lad who needs coaching is any good then helping with the most basics will improve him no end.

But the discussion needs to be around mistakes. He can't let head drop like many. Our current keeper is the most unflappable I've ever seen in my life. The lad will make mistakes, all keepers do. They lead to goals due to position.

The secret to keeping is you are there to be last chance not to be relied on. If you fail you've only failed cos they were in to score anyway.

Tbh you.dont need to get carried away with being over technical at outset. It's about touches of ball like any other position

Btw my comment last night was about vertonghen being allowed back on that pitch. It is ridiculous a person in that condition was sent back on and could have been really seriously injured if he'd gone to head a ball.

spurs are still in the tie... but it looks tough. Ajax effort levels were huge.

spurs looked better with 4 at back though. they really just ran out of cms.

Depends how serious they are taking it and age group

They need to practice coming out and catching crosses and being comfortable booting the ball with either foot which most people cant do

Tottenham needs to win by two clear goals next week. I cannot see this Ajax team not scoring.

Actually they need to win by 1 goal mate for a chance and if they score 2 or more and win by 1 goal they are through on away goals

Thats part of protecting themselves too. Getting a good knee up or studs showing. How to catch or punch is a gain a lot of touches.. as is clearances/passes

These days keeper drills are amazing to watch as they work on short to long passing as they warm up.

Anyway as you said its all about the age and seriousness. If a lad really wants to be a keeper the amount of touches in situations is important but having the right basics is the fundamentals

The fundamentals are how to catch a ball (thumbs behind high,in the bread basket low) how to dive and not hurt yourself, get body behind ball and for me get the ball away from danger area if not holding ball.

As i said if you watch alisson what he does is the fundamentals brilliantly. IF you watch him taking in those handy shots he really never ever spills a thing... ever. You have not seen him do a de gea. How de gea let a ball under his body in CL QF i do not know it was absolutely unbeleivable.

I think Ajax are very good, anyone playing them in the final have to be on their guard. I believe they are going to get into the final.

    I would have to agree.

They look very full of running and I think if we played them it'd be quite a final.

Of course if barca play them it will be too.

They certainly look very fast and eager for work.

its hard when your team has injuries and are out of steam.

    Beat palace 2-0 (big deal)
Beat city 1-0 (was an actual big deal)
    beat huddersfield 4-0 (yawn)
    Beat brighton 1-0 (who cares)
    Lost to west ham 0-1
    Lost to Ajax 0-1

In short spurs only had the one big game that they won. the others are routine games any top 4 would win.

They are simply out of puff and out of midfielders

They will probably scrape by for 4th as they have the points in the bag and only need 2 more (arsenal 4 points back with 2 to play and inferior GD.)

They play bournemouth this weekend away who are already safe and in a similar issue with players, then Everton at home on final day.

Arsenal play burnely on final day away so IMO that game might be a draw
Utd will win both games if they drop de gea. Cardiff and huddersfield

I could see cheslea 3rd despite thier own issues and arsenal just failing to catch spurs.

Its going to be tought for spurs to turn round now and go to bournemouth and win but they have the players to do it... but do they have the energy?

Casillas in hospital after suspected heart attack during Porto training. Hopefully he’s alright, wonder if that’ll be him retiring at end of the season now
