A weekend for reflection. A thrilling 3-2 win against high flying Palace at fortress Elland Road, another two goals conceeded (we have not kept a clean sheet all season, in any competition), one of the lowest crowds for a while (just under 24,000), Graysons now the clear favourite to lose his job next in the Championship, and where the hell was Clayton on Saturday??? What worries me is what would happen in the January transfer window if we recieve a 2 million pound offer for Becchio??? On a positive point a win is a win, McCormack is the joint leading goal scorer in the Championship and Becchio is back and raring to go. Don't want to go off topic too much and dwell too much on the 10th year anniversary of the sad loss of life at the twin towers. The TV pictures, I'm sure, still haunt every one of us today. Song of the day John Lennon's Imagine....
We only got 22k agains Hull Poor attendances but its only expected with that knob head in charge! Very poor performance but we won, worse performance than Southampton. Becchio wont leave hes still got 2 years left on his contract so really this time next year we should be looking at giving him a 5 year deal the guy is an absolute legend and he is gonna be a hero here
Mornin Kissa, Agreed, Bates is keeping people away from the terraces. Lets extend Becchio's contract NOW... We were terrible against Southampton.
Ellandback where you at the game Saturday? I would say we where worse Saturday truly diabolical, Palace had a great front 3 who really battered us and Kisnorbo is as quick as a crane too slow
Afraid not, I was working. I was at the Southampton match (keepin quiet in the home end, ready to poke my own eyes out) Would Kissa have been slower then Harte?
Ellandback Im telling you mate hes starting to look more and more like Micheal pissing Duberry lol Charlie Taylor played okay but I never like defenders that step back when a players running at them! McCormack was awesome bit greedy but hungry for the ball. Keogh was unfortunate to be taken off, Brown and Howson where totally dominated! Lees at fault for both goals Lonergan was brilliant! and Becchio and Forssell could be good! Nunez and Snoddy where shameful
Lees is not a right back, at least Connelly knows what he is doing there. McCormack has found some form, and links up with Keough really well. Chucking Taylor in at the deep end was a bit of a gamble, but set up the first goal, and by most accounts did alright. Get rid of Brown, Howson blows hot and cold. Nunez by all accounts did not have a good afternoon, though when he has played has looked good on the ball...
He looked good on the ball when he wasn't first choice, now he is first choice he needs to perform at a higher level! We where 2-1 down and he was rightly subbed and sulked off took ages to walk off the field and was subsequently boo'd by the leeds fans!
I booed bloody Brown who didnt know his own number the ****ing idiot. The blokes around me were pissing themselves. I went on one. I was impressed with Taylor, dont forget, he was dropped in the deep end, hes still learning and it was a big ****ing gamble, but the kid did well. One of our better players on the pitch that first half...but to be fair, there wasn't ****ing many were there. Not a good performance, I thought we'd actually lose, then Becchio came on and it was like something else. I swear we have missed him. I've been a critic of his, never stated hes a legend, hes this and that, but he made such a difference on Saturday.
Pags I loved the way Becchio came on and scored a goal and the next minute was tracking back helping Charlie Taylor defend! Credit to Taylor tho cos that Saha guy on that wing was some player! To be fair to Brown Grayson admitted he wasnt fit enough but we had no other option! I like Brown but he had a poor game, I much rather have Brown than Kilkenny! Who the **** was it who decided it would be a good idea to launch a looping ball across the back 4?
I know, there was some silly mistakes that need to be looked at but like I say taylor did a good job to say he was dropped in it. One for the future that lad, and everyone I spoke to agreed on that one. Becchio coming on just showed what we have missed, he holds the ball better, he gets into spaces, he tracks back. His all round play was great. Snoddy to me looked disinterested. It wouldn’t surprise me if he has been tapped up and will be going at some point, because whether it was frustration or what, he looked like he didn’t care at times. Nunez was ineffective for me on Saturday. But with Max gone what do we do? I was impressed with Sam when he came on, he gave us that little bit more than Nunez and I’d be inclined to try him out on Saturday from the start. Forsell could be good for us. Becchio and him linked up well. But all we can do is see now. We play like that against Scum it wont be no 8-2, it will be double figures cos it was crap. Palace were not that good. What I will say is, their midfield ran us ragged but did you see the difference in sizes? They were two foot taller than all of our lot. We need some height and some strength. We don’t have it, and we will get bullied off the ball if we don’t get that sorted. See Dougie swapped around the sides so that we were firing towards us for the second half. Old players do that against us…Gary Speed did it and that didn’t work out for him either…1-0
Great tune fella. Tomorrow - how about Vindaloo by Fat Les, because with our CB's this season "we're gonna score one more than you" has to be the motto.
Pags They where a lot better than Sheffield United tho! I thought Keogh was unfortunate to be taken off and Snoddy was awful totally frustrating to watch!
I still wasn’t impressed by them. They were anything special by any means but yeah, they were better than Sheffield not hard that though is it really?
i felt like snoddy had been told to go outh there and stay out there...you could feel his frustration...we were 8 rows from the fron in the south stand and could hear snoddy cursing himself morning all btw!!!
He was definately frustrated at the greediness of McCormack and Nunez but he was at fault for wasting possession too so could hardly moan, to me he still doesnt look fit enough needs to shed a bit of weight
Morning SWW. My dad is still pissing himself at the state of LIW on Saturday night he couldn’t focus even when my dad was waving in front of his face How was the rest of your night?
cheers buckeroo!!...i were right chuffed i got them with my little camera!! i do also feel the need today to point out that all the bates/grayson haters have gone veeeeeeeeeeery quiet since they moaned and whined and kicked off about us selling Schmeichel and getting Lonergan in.....one of the best bits of business in a good few years......proved to be an excellent move......hmm none of the haters sayiong 'well done, i was wrong' on that one though!!
