Its getting a bit of a slating in some quarters because it was apparently too dark to see what was going on. Is this from someone with a **** TV? Mine barely pixelated much at all. A couple of times when Jon was overlooking the battlefield. Granted I got a new TV last year so it has full 4K Ultra HD and its Sony. Anyone suffered issues?

Personally thought it was fantastic TV. I'm sure cost plays a part but I did feel the whole battle could have filled two episodes of the length of last night. We didn't really see the fruition of all that back story work. There are loads of plot lines which have fallen by the wayside which is a bit depressing.

Arya delivering the blow was TV writing at its very best. To tie her whole back story up like that was superb. All that training justified and summed up in one very succinct moment. Interesting Melisandre's prophecy about the eyes. Arya has killed Walder Frey and Meryn Trant with brown eyes, The Night King which was the blue eyes. Just the green to go.

    Cersei has green eyes...

The hype was massive, so it was inevitable that some would be disappointed.
It was very dark, the sound was weird as well. The battle was chaotic (it was never going to be a beauty like the 'Bastards Ep), but it was supposed to be. The long night.....so dark and gritty was to be expected. I didn't mind Arya's arc, shame Snow couldn't have double teamed.
My one complaint would be they should have culled some big characters. Sam. Tyrion, Grey Worm, they shouldn't have all survived that massive battle. Still a really good watch, and very much looking forward to the next three, and Cersie's demise. (as long as Ayra doesn't do everything!)

Just a pity my favourite character was killed off, Lyanna Mormont, but she, at least, did die well.

My second heroine of the episode. The symmetry of the littlest actor (bar Tyrion) taking down the biggest humanoid character was awesome. The way she casually stuck him In the eye was immense.

I've read them and watched them and can confirm - cliche though it may be - the books simply are better than the show (though the show is still ace). Can I justify that? Yeah, it's all about slow burning events which seem to be heading nowhere in particular and then suddenly it all comes together in the course of a few pages and ties in loose ends you forgot existed (often from books previous).

The show does that a bit but mainly it has to be more "action" whilst the books go at a perfect pace. If you think you wont like it though, you're almost certainly correct.

Wow, that was a cracking episode. And there was me looking forward to the battle against the night king, and that turns out to be my least favorite out of the four so far. Tonight put it firmly back in the epic box.
    Anyone agree?

Great episode. Building nicely. Cersei is up for the fight. All sorts of skullduggery now taking place. The eunuch is back and was quick to react to Daenerys being miffed by the John love. He again brought up his loyalty to the realm. I'm just not sure episode 6 will be able to deliver the ending it deserves. How can it? It was an episode which summed up the complicated loyalties and far from linear plot lines of GOT.

I don't want to see Arya's or Lady Brien's nips, so I was a little relieved.

Sansas would have been nice, or SamWells piece. Maybe even a peek through the nighty glimpse of Cersei’s.

The lack of naked female flesh is a down side to this season.
