Saturday 4th May is the anniversary of the Battle of Tewkesbury (1471) where the then Prince of Wales was killed. Prince Charles will be watching his back as we watch Saints face the might of West Ham United at the old Olympic “Councillor, if you give it us for nothing, I’ll slip you a monkey in yer sky rocket, me old mucker” Stadium.

    West Ham’s honours include:

Runners up in the Essex Professional Cup

Third in the Southern League First Division

Runner up in the Southern Floodlit Cup

Winning the World Cup single-handed in 1966

We’re coming into this with eight points from the last six games fresh from a thrilling, end-to-end 3-3 goalfest against Bournemouth at St Marys. Not content with just dropping points from a winning position, we contrived to do it twice. If we try we might manage three goes against West Ham.

Possible team line up for Saints is eleven players chosen from the current squad.

Possible team line-up for West Ham United is similar.

Just to wind us up they will almost certainly put Andy “Donkey” Carroll on for the last ten seconds who will score after melding a human pyramid of Jan Bednarek, Maya Yoshida and Jack Stephens before climbing to the top to head it over a prostrate Angus Gunn (mysteriously lying on the ground after a savage yet deniable knee-biting attack by Mark Noble).

Here’s the Wikipedia image for the Donkey. He looks more than a little suspicious.

    Match officials:
    Referee: Stuart Attwell
    Assistants: Stephen Child, Constantine Hatzidakis
    Fourth official: Martin Atkinson

In all meetings since both teams returned from to the Premier League in 2012 Saints’ record is W4, L6, D3.

West Ham is the birthplace of:

Lennox Lewis, of punching people hard fame

    Christine Ohuruogu, class athlete

David Essex, of “Rock on” fame

    Gerard Manley Hopkins, poet

Most of the information above is from the internet's indispensable global repository for West Ham facts – funny, erudite and beautifully written, it's well worth a read for anyone who wants to know more. Here's a link: Hamopedia

Bloody hell, Matt Targett had the score written on his back the whole time.

Bet he never landed on the moon either.

It's lucky you and me are here to spot these things. Everyone else seems to have their heads buried in the sand.

Anyone think that if Artur hadn't reached it with his fingertips it would have been headed off the line?

I liked the picture of Shane's shirt after his fastest goal. Number 7.65 That was ace. He should sneak that under if shirt for the final game, but whats the chance he'd score and get a chance to show us! <laugh> Higher than ever I'd suggest! <yikes>

Not sure we can class Valery as one of our academy lads, we signed him at 16 didn't we?
