Of course not, in an ideal world he and all others should not get one jot of abuse. Bu to blame football or make it out to be some sh#thouse of a profession when it has been very good to him rings a little hollow. Could more be done, of course, in football and the wider world, but should football be responsible for lifting entire swaths of people in eastern europe out of the dark ages? I guess I'm saying if football is so bad why has he not quit? Could it be because, money comes before his morals just as with those who fail to adequately punish the racists in the game? Bah!
The way I see it, of course money has an influence, but why should he give up a game he loves and has a great talent for just because teams who's supporters are openly racist are let off with hopelessly futile punishment?
The world is very broken, all I'm saying is he has it pretty good and whilst the abuse is abhorrent, he might well get it in other walks of life, even have his career held back. If it truly is that upsetting to him perhaps actions to back up his words? UEFA should obviously do a lot more but can they straighten out eastern European attitudes? Bah!
What about a blanket threat of expulsion from the EURO's or W.C. once evidence of fan racist taunting or behaviour has been noted / proved. Onus on fans to keep quiet or forse their side to be eliminated? Fines and games behind closed doors don't work. Didn't Croatian fans cut a swastika or similar into the pitch turf vs Italy a year or 18 months back? 1 game behind closed doors, as I recall - no deterrent for any change of behaviour there.
I agree that racism and racist chants should be punished, but would you get some people deliberately getting tickets for the opposition and trying to get them excluded? Maybe that is my mind working overtime! At least the fines need to be whatever they are currently x10 and maybe something else such as -3 penalty points or something per game. That should shut the morons up quickly
But then you are punishing not only the bad eggs but some fans who perhaps don't share their attitude, the players etc. The band are not sufficient but if you go over punitive you are in danger of fostering increasing resentment and even making things worse. More CCTV with a view to banning the offenders only would be the best route. They'd no doubt stay racist (as plenty do here) but at least they'd know they would likely get caught. Bah!
I thought about this, but on reflection there would of course need to be some sort of investigation into the individuals which would more than likely uncover their true allegiance
On the subject of 'bad eggs', I've only just seen the 'antics' of Leeds and Bamford in particular from Sunday. The gormless little cretin is a ****ing disgrace to the game and I so hope Leeds crash and burn (to whoever) in the play-offs after this crass display of cheating, play-acting and gamesmanship leading to a wrongful red card Makes me shudder to think the little reptile used to wear the yellow jersey
I'd only seen Bamford get his lights punched out, it's good to see the rest of it. You can't blame the referee for the red card, the lino told him Bamford was elbowed
Was El Ghazi facing a three match ban for the red? If so, Bamfuck should face at least the same for the deception.
