Just missed the 2nd last Sceau Royal but wouldn't have beaten Altior, simply a beast and well done on breaking Big Bucks' record
What a horse, what a jumper is Altior, jumped the ass off them over a distance which is surely now too short for him?
sandown,3 35: BET365 GOLD CUP well,THE YOUNG MASTER is a former winner of this race,3 years ago,off a 5 lbr higher mark than todays, and though he made no show the last two years, his season has gone much smoother this time round, and he ran a belter at cheltenham in third,so hes surely no back number just yet,and can be competitive here today..
yes,he never lets me down!!grand horse. sandown,4 15: SELECT HURDLE quite a few of these are on a retrieval mission, and the race has cut up a bit,so a chance is taken on BLACK OP.he really deserves a change of fortune, after a rather unsuccessful stint over fences, but he has bits and pieces of form, over hurdles this season, that make him competitive here.
Was that a case of Dickie getting outbattled by Nico there or just the horse wasn’t good enough? I’m in the latter camp! Nearly a perfect ride from the champ there.
I like Apparate, think hes a long term prospect though, the type of horse who could come good at 4 or 5. He lost the plot at the start today, ran with the choke out early and I thought he ran a lot better than the formbook will show. Thats twice from two visits to the track he has been unruly, he bucked Atzeni off in the parade ring before his debut in a weak Newbury maiden. The fact that he is so nice physically probably the only thing stopping him from already being gelded but that looks inevitable now. I think he will be better on fast ground but hes obviously still very immature and I dont think he will run much this season.
I think that was a poor contest today and I doubt if Apparate has run much better than a plater there. The easy winner Severance had come in rated 76 and the third home ran to 49 on RPR last time out. That would cast alarm bells for me if considering the Gosden debutante next time out after being runner up today. Apparate had been rated 78 for his first start but as I had said earlier that race hasn't worked out and the colt looked poor value today, particularly if anyone had seen his antics and still decided to bet on him. If I had to predict where these horses end up it would certainly be in Handicap grade. Apparate could run again and earn probably a moderate enough mark for Handicap purposes but that is a long way from the Dante and Derby entries that he held/holds. If they geld him he has no value as a stallion and it's a long way off to wait for the horse to finally come good as a four or five year old. He won't be the first or last blue blood to fail to pan out as a racehorse and the entries today, and at Yarmouth next Tuesday in a Novice Stakes race were perhaps a warning that the Dante and Derby entries may have been based on breeding, rather than actual talent. Telecaster's form tie in Deal A Dollar is entered in that Yarmouth race on 30th April but the very early collateral form is dodgy looking with the only one to run since going off odds and getting stuffed in a class 5 at Wolverhampton. I thought Deal A Dollar looked quite slow in his race behind Telecaster and it will be interesting to see how he performs on Tuesday from the viewpoint of putting some support behind Telecaster's form and fleshing out his chances of developing into a realistic Derby contender. Apparate however looks to have a mountain to climb and I will be shocked if he lines up in the Dante or Derby.
Why you bringing up Telecaster and stating the obvious that Apparate wont be running in the Dante or Derby? I said I think hes a long term prospect, not a Derby contender. Did you miss Bangkok franking Telecasters form the other day? Hows Space Blues looking for the Blue Riband btw? Hope it wasnt more than a 2 pound bet you had.
Dont think so, last I read they are considering the Dante, Line of Duty who ive backed for the Derby also running there.
Just mentioning that we should get an idea on Telecaster's Windsor romp through the Stoute horse. Bangkok won a race that is a lousy trial for the Derby these days. He was odds-on and fully entitled to win, the form is still well below what will be needed to win a Derby. You can call it franked if you wish but it was short of what I would be thinking about as Derby form. Digging up other peoples losers and belittling the stakes is classic childish behaviour on forums. It just shows yourself in a bad light. If that's the level of your discussion I am not interested in talking to you. As they say in Glesga, jog-on ya walloper.
Nobody has ever said that in Glasgow, and oddly specific horses you are calling claimers, slow and trashing the form of. You know who my Derby horse is anyway, you spent a while trying to invent a Breeders Cup Juvenile theory to write it off. I told you Space Blues wasnt a 1m4 horse in a million years, back at a mile tomorrow at nottingham, should get your nicker back.
I'm still waiting for a lightly raced/unraced one to come out of the woodwork because nothing has got me very interested so far. Never have rated Too Darn Hot as a Derby winner. At present I like Dubai Warrior. I had Barbados as a possible outsider but he came out and got beaten
I go by previous Derby winning ratings. Ruler Of The World was a poor Derby winner on 120 and it would be quite depressing to see a colt win with a lower rating that that. I've been accused of dissing the form but Bangkok, who won the trial the other week went up a generous enough looking 14 lbs for winning it, yet is only on a mark of 106 for now, so clearly needs another stone to be in Ruler Of The World territory. Telecaster sluiced up at Windsor but that's not a track you would associate with Derby winners and the Racing Post only evaluated the performance to be three pounds better than his run when second to Bangkok. That Windsor race was basically a match on betting, with loads of massively priced horses in the field. It was 20/1 bar three, with those market leaders being 10/11, 7/4 and 8/1. The 8/1 shot Ginistrelli has an official rating of 82 after three starts and finished 5th while conceding 7 lbs to the 1st and 2nd. I make no apology for not getting excited about the form. The fullness of time will say if I have badly misjudged it. The original horse I discussed, Apparate, received a rating of 63 from the Racing Post for his defeat at 4/7 odds. What else can you call that other than mediocre for a horse entered in top races?
