so i watched the leeds v villa debacle. 1. I think player was offside. 2. i can't decide if the player who played the pass was pretending to put it out or just deciding to play it. 3. THe happenings there after and the player who decided to block the ball after leeds decided to give the ball back... well.... for me it just goes to show what var can help with.
Goal line technology is great though, no interpretation needed. Doesn't matter if the ball is 3cm over the line or hitting the back of the net. A goal is a goal
Even if they do drop points against Leicester, that probably won't be enough. Our last two games may not be the hardest, but they're not the easiest over and we've sailed on out luck the last few months at times. I give us a 50% chance at dropping points in our last two fixtures. Even if Leicester take points from City, I would still only give us 50% chance at winning the league. All things considered, City are 90% chance already the title holders.
not strictly true as there is a margin of error in the system but i love it tbh. Really quick decisions and the players just accept it. Might not want VAR but that doesn't mean i don't want tech per se i just don't want it getting in the way of the game.
The way I see it is that we'll win our last 2 games and then Leicester will beat City and Brighton will shock the world with a 5 nil win on the last day of the season.
The thing with goal line technology is that it shows a still of a moving ball. If the ball is clearly over the line based on the still, no problem but if it shows a ball not quite over, what's to say they stopped the imaging too soon.
The images are for show. The system actually works via 7 cameras all tracking the ball so the view usually given in the end is none of these they track the flight of the ball at all times and the alert comes when the system assesses the ball crosses a goal area that is carefully calibrated.
