One or two of us discuss here; https://www.not606.com/threads/oles-rebuild.373222/ I think we need a right wing, ACM, DCM and two centre halves myself. What I would like to happen is Pogba leave to go to Real and we get Kroos as part of the deal. We get Declan Rice to replace Matic, we get Jadon Sancho as right wing, we get Harry Maguire and/or Alderweireld at centre half. We make Dalot right back and we bring Fosu-Mensah back from loan as his deputy. Trippier been mentioned today, he's also a possibility I suppose. If we get two centre halves, we get rid of Smalling, Jones, Bailly and Rojo and we also bring Axel Tuenzebe back for loan. As well as Pogba, I would also hope Lukaku and Sanchez leave as well. Not asking much!
That is a big ask and a hell of a lot of work. I'd keep Smalling as a back up personally. For some reason I don't think he's too bad - with a more solid partner he might be worth keeping. I like Trippier but he's not had a good season. Going to be intersting watching what United get up to over the summer. Interesting to see how much you'll get for Pogba. Even though he hasn't been great his stocks are still quite high. £120-150 mill? Lukaku is a rich mans Benteke!
Pogba’s price has to be set at £150m. He’s been involved directly in about 27 goals this season which is ****ing phenomenal given he’s only turned up for about a third of it. He barely gets any **** off the United fans, but if he doesn’t turn up every week the precious little Real fans will give him hell.
OGS's problem was united were bigged up beyond belief. When they beat us at Wembley, united were praised by pundits for a great defensive performance but in truth (as anyone who saw the match could see) Spurs carved united open on several occassions and on another occasion could have scored 3 or 4. Pundits were talking about his tactical nouse when in reality it was s terrible Trippier mistake that gave away the goal and a mix of piss poor finishing and quality keeping that won you the game I ain't complaining about the match but the idea that united had played well was simply not true. United were not as good as they were portrayed and are not as bad as they are being portrayed to be now.
I think it was more that, tactically, we did a job on you and it appeared he'd got quick counter attacking football sussed. Then, when he decided to shut up shop, we did. It was definitely a very good performance but was also helped by De Gea having a very good day, could have gone either way. I don't think it was that one myself, I reckon the ones that got everyone overly excited were Arsenal in the FA cup and PSG in the CL away. Significantly, to me, both cup games. None of the top four pressure, which has since seemingly engulfed the whole squad.
I ain't saying united played badly but doing a job on a team tactically involves not giving away clear cut chances. We had 4 clear cut chances and should have scored. IF we had taken the clear cut chances no one would have ssid anything about his tactical nouse. Like I said, I ain't calling united lucky in that match (as good keeping is not a matter of luck). My point was that United were overly talked up when there were clearly defensive issues on show. I think that there are problems but getting OGS to replace JM has been a huge step in the right direction.
Easily the weakest Utd squad I've seen in my lifetime. I think most neutrals that saw the game know Utd were fortunate to win, we made a mistake for the goal then couldn't score for **** either via tame shots or a couple top de Gea saves, the pundits were just sucking off Ole, just as they're now berating him, that's part and parcel of being Utd manager as they're always in the spotlight. I've been saying how we need quite a clearout in the summer and a good freshen up, they're even more needing of one than us. A whole new backline, one or two CMs seeing as Herrera looks to be off and Matic ain't getting younger, whilst probably another wide forward along with some decent squad players. A lot of their players ain't 'Utd quality'.
Well yeah, we know all this. Post #282 above says as much. Crazy to think that if a common back four of ours plays; Young, Smalling, Jones and Shaw, three are Fergie players. Ole needs to be given the chance to have a clear out as an equally priority to getting some of his own signings in. Then be properly judged. It's obvious what the media will do, never in question, there's just nothing anyone can do about it. They bang the drum to get him the job full time and, as soon as that happens, bang the drum to say the job is beyond him. You just have to look at what ****wit Jermain Jenas has said to see that. Echoed by the likes of @Hoddle Is A God, unsurprisingly enough.
The squad Ferguson won the league with in his last season was bilge in comparison to their current one imo. The issue with it, is that it’s mismatched & there’s too many egos in that dressing room, who think they’re somehow doing that club a favour just being there on their enormous wage packets.
It seems that OGS has been given the backing by the club even if Man Utd are not in the CL next season (though that may be somewhat financially uncomfortable in the short term) . If he finishes top 4, then that is a bonus and not the bottom line. However, a very different story for the squad. Those who suddenly found their boots and lungs once Jose was out similarly seem to think they are also now safe and do not have to front up to fight for a top 4 place still up for grabs. It will be interesting to see if a squad purge happens (who and how much they are sold for) .
Wow! I’ve got you rattled! You need to look at your own utter ****e punditry before you fling mud at others. The fact is, I called it and you didn’t. You were giving it large, puffing out your little chest and telling everyone how “we don’t need Poch, we’ve got Ollie!” I told you then and I’m telling you now, Little Ollie will never be fit enough to polish Poch’s managerial boots. Little Ollie is most certainly “at the wheel!” He’s been strapped to it like a doomed sailor in a storm, and the poor bastard is about to hit the rocks. United will get chewed up and spat out tonight, by a side that is three times better than it in every single respect.
I hope you wasn't eating your cornflakes as you were typing this. They will be all up the wall, over the floor and probably stuck in your hair. This is a proper 2 year olds tantrum
