Been away over Easter (thankfully as it turns out). It’s the hope that kills. Got to question the players rather than Bielsa for me. Folded under monk and again now. Bielsa has called it right for me, we are not clinical enough in front of goal. I’m not instilled with confidence, our playoff record is poor and if we do get to the final we can’t seem to win in London.
Still as a fellow Leeds in Londoner - Wembley is a lot nearer to get home from after a crushing defeat than Myanmar... (and I've had a lot more practise)
That is my view too. The fact that we have been top 2 for most of the season and have now slipped out of autos is a real kick in the nuts. If we had worked our way up I totally see the point in that had we been offered that route in August then yes we would be happy to have taken it. But the ramifications of our situation now is not just this season and my concern is that it will put us back to mid table at best for seasons to come. I hope that I am proved wrong but struggling to shake off this feeling of impending doom. Doomed I tell Yeh. Doooooomed.
I know what you are going through, after 55 years supporting Leeds myself, the disappointments & hurt doesn't get any easier. To be honest as the years fly by I do wonder if I'll ever see Leeds in the premiership again Cheer up Heidi
Disagree I'm afraid,it was Bielsa who decided we didn't need another no 10 because we had Brown and then refuse to even have him as sub. It's him who sticks with the same failing players, when we have some brilliant young lads, who without before Christmas we wouldn't even be in the play offs. still time to change things and save the season, but have a feeling we will just carry on with the same.
Sergi Canos and Neal Maupay combined cost less than Adam Forshaw Che Adams cost less than Roofe & Forshaw Some wroug with our recruitment !
I read your match reports every week. Agree with most of them and agree with much of your assessment of the season, investment squad depth etc. I’d also agree with warnocks soft belly point to a degree. Our style will always give a chance or two away but we have given a lot of very soft goals away. Yesterday a case in point. Goodman said in commentary yesterday that we’ve been the better side in most of the games we’ve lost, and I agree with that. Even yesterday.. if you watched the game independently, balance of play, chances. Draw would probably have been fair. However, you are being overly dramatic in my opinion. The season isn’t over. The play offs are a lottery. As for sustaining an auto place? Until 4 days ago we had managed to, so the idea that a capitulation was inevitable over 46 games when you are in autos after 42 is... well... I don’t need to say it. But ultimately The sides who will finish above us have been more clinical and ruthless than us and have taken points when not playing well. We don’t and we’ve. dropped too many points in games where we’ve had the upper hand. But it’s very fine margins. Very.
we only sustained an auto place because WBA fell apart,Sheffield utd have gained 13 points on us since boxing day.
They did, but if we’re starting to add qualifying reasons to justify a point that doesn’t factually stack up.. then we can go at this all day and I cant Be a*sed, and sadly have work to do. Facts are we were autos after 42 games.
Fair comment but I’m not sure Bielsa decided we didn’t need a number 10. My guess is after buying Casilla, Radz only had the money for one more signing and we settled for Daniels which went tits up with no time to go elsewhere. Agreed Shackleton and Clarke (pre illness) looked good but I can’t think of many others that featured regularly. My fear is that it is so difficult to really judge quality / readiness in the U23 development league.
You’re right, whichever way you view it we blew it, choked whatever. Losses to a very poor qpr and at home to a 10 man Wigan has cost us.
The u 23s are a gamble yes,but they have never let us down yet,we do know however the current starting 11 are very unlikely to win any play offs.We can try and win them or carry on accepting we can't do anything and give up.
As you've 'known for months that we're not good enough, squad not deep enough, too soft-bellied etc etc' I can't understand why you're not ecstatic that such a 'poor outfit' have actually finished 3rd.
please log in to view this image Phil Hay@PhilHayYEP Pablo Hernandez was very emotional at full-time. Bielsa: "Pablo deserved to finish first or second. He and the whole team, but especially him. I understand how he feels."
