If you want to join something building up join Liverpool. all the signs are good. If you want vast money and no chance to play join Barca. if you want German league medals and nitbung else join Bayern. if you want French league medals and nothing else join pay. if you want easy life and Italian medals.join juve. those will all pay massive wages. If you want to really achieve something seek.out the best long term deal. for.me that's not Chelsea at this point. they look chaos. they win **** but it's utter chaos... yet right now it'll be league to fa cup to Europa league winners potentially.
And IF my Aunt had balls she would be a strange woman. We were never going to be anything higher than 7th with a new manager and a shambles of a squad. What we have done is have two poor spells but are still on course to be the best of the rest.
You're not though are you. utd are best of the rest and you can't catch them. You're in the mix for 7-12 with not much between those teams. You've just been extremely lucky that the standard of mid tablers has been shocking.
With respect, you claim to have no interest in us & never watch us, so how can you even comment on our current identity? I watch us first hand, as does PJS & whilst I can’t speak for him, I’ve felt a change at the club since the start of the season. Not only on the pitch but off it. We changed our style of football dramatically and up until the Anfield derby were doing really well. We had a bad patch after that, but my optimism remained, and we’ve been great in the last month or so. The crowd are engaged again, the team are actually starting to look like a team, as opposed to a collection of individuals & the language off the pitch mirrors what’s happening on it. Whilst our finishing position might end up being no better than last season, the club has definitely moved forwards this year. The U23’s winning the PL2 again, bodes well & hopefully we’ll see some more youngsters break through shortly. The only real disappointment for me this season was the woeful showing in the domestic cups.
With respect, I live in Liverpool and some of my family and friends are blues so you get a general vibe from living in the city and a specific vibe from those who want to discuss Everton. None of which includes me watching Everton or taking a personal interest in them.
How were Everton going to compete with United. When Leicester, Wolves and Watford we’re doing well I remember reading that Wolves were best of the rest. Funny how that is now United, like Tobes said, average start, good run before Anfield and then since Goodison much better. Brands and Silva along with others in the background(Unsworth also)are making the right noises. From Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and United....10 points, four clean sheets. Terrible, Silva out.
thats very true. they just pick who pays them most, not the best long term interest. they just use a guy for today then turn up in 2 years and see if they can repeat the trick. the amount of dodgy dealing and young players left in **** as a result of agents is ridiculous. I'm sure Jerome Sinclair wasn't up to.much but he was used by aidy ward for a quick buck and he's now going to be lucky to be a league 1 player.
Therein lies the problem, the gap between the top 6 & the rest has widened in recent years. We were never going to alter that whilst our results against the top 6 were as ****e as they were in recent years, until the recent run of games. We’ve now got that monkey off our back, Goodison is becoming a fortress again & now the challenge is to take that home form & start to replicate it away. I want to enjoy going to the game mate is the honest answer, and that means seeing some quality togger & the team always giving their all.
So you do take an interest in a way. Maybe you talk to the most negative of Blues. Maybe the ones round me that have turned to support Silva as signs show high press, more energy, All this with a young lad leading the line, bullying good CB’s and dragging them into channels and areas they don’t want to go. But that’s not something Everton fans would identify with
That’s rather along the lines of what 99% Everton fans want. They want to see the team give 100% and play nice stuff.
So merely living in the city gives you an insight into the goings on at Everton, despite never watching them or taking any interest, & you're trying to preach about our identity this season to PJS who actually watches them and follows them closely? Yeah whatever.
I enjoyed watching Calvin Lewis(?) batter the **** out of Jones and Smalling. They just couldn't handle him. It was a good centre forward display.
He played better against Arsenal and Chelsea. Has been key in making space for others. Would prefer him to be in the box more and scoring, but hope that comes with time/experience. He is a team grafter like Firmino but without the goals.
and all that's fine. if you look at spurs results against top 6 I think they've lost nearly all games. the difference between spurs and Everton therefore are results against all the other teams. If you win more you'll be closer to top. same for Liverpool. we were only ok last year v top 6. average so we're 4th. we have done better this year but way way better v the rest
He’s come on really well this season, he’s bulked out a bit, and the lad gives everything he’s got every week. Whether he can become a genuine PL striker will depend on whether he can improve his goal ratio. Comes across as a really level headed lad, I hope he keeps that attitude & carries on learning his trade.
thats the problem.. he doesn't have the goals. some players do, some are Solomon rondon. I still think if you want top 4 type of performance or a cup you need a scorer.
I agree. But they are rare and also maybe would need a change of style that’s not with the identity of the club. Or we see a lad with limited experience grow from one that scored the World Cup winning goal to one who gives 10-15 league goals a season with the same effort and drive to his play we have now.
