Documentary film just started on Talking Pictures called Berth 24 about a cargo delivery to Hull docks filmed in 1950.....might be of interest to some and will be repeated if you miss this showing....Alexandra dock is being used, boat featured Bravo Hull.
Bravo must have been one of Ellerman Wilson Line, as their vessels all ended in "O". My aunt went on 2 voyages to Norway' on the Borodino & Tinto, their ships were part cargo part passenger. As a matter of interest for those that may not know, where City train now was Ellerman & Wilson ground before.
Do you know I had forgotten that you have a better memory than me, Ernie. I played there a few times over the years and frequented the bar there afterwards..
My husband's dad was based at Alexandra Dock from 1941-1956 where he worked as an electrician. During school holidays in the late 40's he often took my husband on board ships he was working on. Never got to meet him as he died suddenly at Easter in 1968 shortly after I met my husband in South Africa.
