Now if you're Rashford or Lingard you don't need to be looking at Pogba or Sanchez, you're looking at Fred coming in on £100k and thinking wtf is that about. Romero sitting on the bench earning £50k same as me.
I've had to go and look it up again but this is 2018-19... https://www.totalsportek.com/money/manchester-united-player-salaries/
Or maybe it just suits your narrative to believe otherwise. Don't let the facts get in the way of a good headline.
Yeh fair point about Martial. The thing is, anything about his new contract is just rumour. I've tried to find it and I can't but maybe someone can. The other figures are stated as confirmed wages at start of season.
skysports and bbc reckon its about 100k for lingard and and sky 250k for martial https://www.skysports.com/football/...grees-new-four-year-deal-at-manchester-united https://www.skysports.com/football/...ns-new-deal-with-manchester-united-until-2024 https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39518118 quite different from sportek
The figures I've quoted are basic wages. The figures in Sky and BBC don't make that clear and one even says "could see him earning £100k" re Lingard which suggests add ons. I do accept that both have signed new deals since the start of the season My wider point is that the wage structure is a mish mash which will naturally cause discontent within the squad especially our better players. Not to mention the overall baseline for wages going up as a result.
I don't know what happened at QPR tbh. We have at least 3 whose contract is finishing iirc. But we got some dross on the books still like Rojo, Smalling, Jones as well as the 3 expensive fckers that need rid of. And we refused to increase Herrera to 100k lol. That's the real joke.
The man is the closest thing we have (apart from the home growns) to a committed Red, I would be inclined to make him captain. Young actually shows some commitment too.
It's no surprise as he's come from Athletic Bilbao. There's something about the club, its recruitment of local lads (granted he was at Zaragoza but he's a local Bilbao) that cultures an ethos of playing for the club. One of the few remaining clubs that focuses heavily on that. Any club that can prise a decent player away from Bilbao will likely get that from the player.
Qpr had the scenario where they had over the hill footballers on big wages and long contracts so didn't leave. Literally sat there bleeding the club and to make matters worse they got relegated so had been less income to pay them. Ended up with paying wages for playing never going to pay another game and no chance of recouping money. Boswinga, S Wright Philips being 2 of a few. You've got that with Sanchez in particular but also Lukaku and possibly a few others. Lot of squad players in that team.
We've got a couple of those too, Fraser being the obvious one as our top earner but 3rd choice keeper.
When Solskjaer took over he was heaped with praise for the instant impact. The talk was all of ‘taking off the shackles’ that the United players had been subjected to under Mourinho. The results were great, they were blowing sides away with attacking football again, is this the same group of players? were the shouts, he’s a genius, he gets the club, he understands what the fans want, the players respect him, etc etc ad infinitum. He took the plaudits and got the full time role. Now they’ve lost 6 in 8, it’s all the players fault again, the same group of players. Could it just be that the opposition have figured out how to play against his tactics, and as a manger he’s failed to adjust? Tactically we outdid United yesterday, and as soon as we went ahead the body language of the players was that of a side on a bad run. This is where managers earn their corn, turning around bad runs of form, I think Ole is being given a completely free pass here in that regard, and the players are taking the entire blame, for something that happens at most clubs during a season i.e. a bad run.
Pogba and Sanchez are both exceptional players ... but will always put their own interests in front of the club ... it's a poison you don't need. Pogba's attitude might change if he went to Real or Barca where he would be more of an average fish compared to their best ... but it's a risk even for them. Lukaku simply has limitations against the very best defenders. Can't really argue with his scoring ratio (lack of it) against the Big 6 or against top international sides. As for the rest, too many average players in the squad. The focus now is on who they should keep ... Rashford, Lingard, de Gea yes ... Shaw possibly ... some with some promise or who haven't yet been given much of a chance, McTominey, Fred perhaps ... for the rest (assuming Herera is definitely gone?) ... get rid .. and if they won't go, bite the bullet and leave them out the squad ... United are one of the few clubs that could afford to do that.
What's the problem? Tel was just telling me the other day how they just gotta show the cash and everyone will drop evrything and come running...Poch, Kane...600k a week I think he said for Kane United lose - Mourinho's fault United win - Ole's a magician United lose - it's the players Welcome to your turn to being a fallen Empire Ask Liverpool for advice
