He's certainly capable of winning another. He isn't short on ability, and is in the probably second wealthiest team on the grid. Needs to get his mind sorted somewhat, but I beleive he's making real progress in this area. Not so long ago, Lee McKenzie's questioning today would have bought a very different response; so well done to him on that score. Whether that's a sense of self-discipline, or the result of a warning from Whitmarsh to keep his mouth shut, I don't know.

He needs consistency,- some races he drives like a natural winner, and others he's like a ten year old let loose in a fairground. As Miggins has said above, his father's return in a managerial role would be highly beneficial to him. Probably has too many hangers-on behind the scenes, which has made him belive his own hype.

I think it's a very interesting point about his father managing him. Is it just coincidence that his fall from grace comes in the same year as getting Simon Fuller as his manager? There's no evident link but maybe he hasn't been getting the right kind of advice or treatment.

It's interesting that even after a neither stella nor particularly bad race, the top two threads at this time are both Hamilton related.

    Why is that?

you can tell from Body language he wanted to say something but somebody has told him to keep quiet. Actually we saw this at the end of last year in Hamilton when he was out of the running. He was cool calm and collected but when he is in the fight he gets hot headed.

Possibly because most of the action today was from him. It was interesting to see a different side of him

sea-man just keeps making them. :D

He polarises opinion more than any other driver. He also seems to get "involved" in things, either through his own fault or others. And his performance this weekend was always going to come under scrutiny after what happened last week. I think too much attention is paid to him personally, when I tuned into FP1 on Friday Crofty was all "Lewis and Nicole are just a normal boyfriend and girlfriend blah, blah, blah", I thought I'd accidentally stuck LK Today on.

Something that I find strange is that we complain when drivers are all corporate and we claim to miss the characters that once graced the sport, but when we have somebody that does vent and allows himself to let his emotions spill out (rightly or wrongly) they are condemned for it.

I agree. I didn't criticise Lewis for speaking his mind after Monaco, although I do get annoyed with some of the crap he comes out with on a Thursday, I was a bit disappointed he didn't give more of a reaction today.

I liked it after Belgium when Maldonado had a sly dig at LH saying he did it (crashed into someone) again today. :D

They should do away with the various blah, blah press conferences and introduce a Friday Verbal Sparring Session to spice things up a bit. :)

I voted no. Not saying he don't have the potential, but I currently see too many hurdles in the way and think that if it will ever happen, it wont be within in the nearest future. Red Bull need to lose a lot of their current momentum and/or Vettel need to leave them(will not happen for long).

Then we have the Ferrarri/Alonso combination which I believe in A LOT! Even with a much worse car Alonso is currently beating Lewis by delivering solid performances, consistently in the top points. As Alonso has signed to 2016 I doubt Lewis will win before that.

I know writing about Schumacher on a more or less exclusively Brittish forum, not to mention in a Hamilton thread, is probably pointless, but should Mercedes be able to catch up to match the other Top constructors performance wise, and I really do believe they will, he will definitely be a force to be reckoned with. However, if they get a fundamentally good car by 2012, I guess it will take at least another year to bring it to the very top. One could hope Schumi will stay past 2012.. If he does he could very well be claiming 2013 or 2014. But that all depends on Mercedes. My point with bringing up MSC, is that I believe him to have a greater chance than Lewis IF he stays and Merc get their car top tuned.

Not to forget mentioning Button, who I just read was offered a £80 million deal should he sign another 3-5 years with Mclarren. If Button stays that long, I think his consistency and cool headed approach will win over Lewis "All or nothing" style.

I don't really know much about his dad, but a lot of people suggests that he was a huge part of Lewis WDC win and they parting being a huge reason why Lewis hasn't delivered as much since.

Ok this is turning to a lengthy post, but basically I think there are quite a few if's that need to fall his way and a few issues he needs sorted should he want the chance on another title.

To all fanboys thinking I am a Hamilton hater: On the contrary I used to sheer on him to win and will be one of the first to happily applaud him should he break the trend and mature up a few years starting to drive/act with his brain a bit more than his heart. There is no doubt at all, that he holds a MASSIVE amount of tallent. He just need to harnest it better.

If he wins another WDC I think it wont happen within the next 5 years. Question is what that will do to him and if he still have the hunger by then.

Yeah lets have a pre race conference with the top 10 drivers and they can all slag each other off like boxers do before they fight. it could be like seb I'm gonna ram your skinny ass off the road, and seb could say eat my dust sucker, an all that type of ting and there could be punches thrown and everything type of ****...

Hahahahahaha the pram could have toys in so the driver could throw them out and he could suck on a dummy so he can spit it at someone who gets in his way.

That's because of what i mean with his "all or nothing" style/mindset. He is most often driving "over the limit" and that is bound to deliver head lines. Either he wins sensationally or he fails miserably.

Today was neither of those things, though he still remains a hot topic. Seems odd when there are many more discussion worthy events from the day.

His battle with Schuey was epic and his only real fault of the day was not keeping his eye on the ball at the restart.

Actually at times I thought I was watching the schumi hammy show cuz thats the only thing the director was following I would have liked to have seen a bit more of what the others were getting up to, to be honest the directing was bloody awful, and I reckon thats why the only thing people are talking about is those two.

It'll be Britney Rosberg who starts in the pitlane then. He wouldn't get in a fight, it might mess his hair up.

    That's a fair point.

We have commercials over here, so each time it cut away I was wondering if the returning shot would be a mangled Merc and a McLaren. It was the Hamilton/Schuey show for a while there.
