Where? Take your pick mate. I wasn't optimistic about Man City either though. Now we have neither Kane nor Son for the next leg? Don't get me wrong, I think we can beat anybody on our day, it's just always our day, is it? I'm a realist, as I imagine many Spurs fans are. I hope we can, I even believe we can, whether we will or not however, is a different story entirely.
Yes, well this Tottenham team had better wake up and get back to winning ways and take nothing for granted, I expected a draw at least before the match yesterday but having lost it I've been given a reality check and so too I hope the players. Our rivals have been too close for comfort for a while now and Arsenal winning today will put us 4th, not a place I want to be.
We won't play a team as good as City again this year - arguably even if we make CL final. They have not outclassed us in any of the recent games.
Do you think they are better than Liverpool then? I am not so sure and then there is Barcalona and indeed Ajax. I think the descriptions of City as the best team in Europe etc are way over the top. Once again they have failed in the Champions League and their defence is far from awe inspiring. Kompany is showing signs of age and the ravages of an injury hit career.
I agree, I've said on numerous occasions that people do overrate their squad. Their centre-back options aren't that reliable and their full-back options have been weak. It's actually an area where they have struggled all season. They look very susceptible to counter attacks if Fernandinho doesn't/can't play and they have no real striker outside of Aguero (have I mentioned I don't rate Jesus?). Where they do have depth is in attacking midfield and on the wings, where they have plenty of quality that can win them games even from the bench.
To be fair, if the referees don't discipline them when they do it, of course they will continue if they feel they can get away with it.
Do you not think match officials get too much protection? They consistently get big decisions wrong, seemingly every week, but if you dare to criticise them for it, you are at risk of getting a touchline ban/fine.
De Gea makes a brilliant save from Richarlison. Probably didn't hit it as cleanly as he would have liked.
When VAR comes in they should be miked up so everyone can listen to their thinking. In addition, the full referees report should be published within 6 hours of the end of each game.
No. Managers are allowed to criticise the officials, but that's not what they do. You don't get punished for calling out mistakes. Pochettino could've pointed out things that he felt Oliver got wrong and he'd be fine. They get in trouble when they question their honesty or integrity, which is where the line should be drawn, in my opinion. Our match officials are crap. Some of them are unfit and others are being told to let things go, in order to make the spectacle better. This won't improve until those in charge are replaced and players are forced to treat match officials with more respect. Who'd want to be a ref now? You'd have to be a lunatic or on some sort of power trip, so that's what we've got.
I'm inclined to agree. My worry is that even with VAR, they have still got decisions wrong. And as it is only used for 'big' decisions i.e. penalties, offsides or red card offences, it won't factor in the other decisions that referees get wrong such as totting up of fouls, corners that should have been goal kicks, soft fouls etc. VAR will help to a degree, but it won't be the silver bullet that everyone hopes.
Referees need to be accountable. Miking them will do that, it will sort out the chaff from the grain.
Normally I would agree, but I am sure managers have been punished for saying the referees have had a 'shocker' or a 'mare', which I feel they should be entitled to say, especially if it's true. There seems to be very little accountability. But if you're also suggesting the issues come from much higher up, who aren't/haven't done enough to make necessary changes, I do agree with that.
