Great performance, and great result under massive pressure.

First half was outstanding, first to every ball. Delighted.

Portsmouth win a game they could have lost, they are the best side in this diivision and will go up one way or the other, so should we lose next week so we don't play them in the play offs? That Coventry result has cost us though i reckon.

What a game... Wyke was good and so was the rest of the team and we won well

Jog onto the next game ..

Very tight for 2nd promotion place... must win all our remaining games...

That was as comfortable a win as I can remember, and probably just what we needed for moral and with Peterborough so soon after :emoticon-0148-yes:

We felt relaxed, too, and I'm even sure that I heard murmurs from our (The Fulwell) end . . . . it may have been wind, but I definately heard something (as if it were us briefly 'coming to life' again) :emoticon-0105-wink:

I also heard some (no more than a dozen, mind) Yorkshire puddings singing 'your support is fecking ****' . . . . at a time when they had made almost no noise and we could clearly hear the Roker End singing, as they were for most of the match :emoticon-0136-giggl

What's the verdict on the CBs? They had a much easier job than they did against Coventry and Catts shielded them all game but I thought they looked good, very solid physically and didn't try anything clever just put their foot through it when appropriate.

I know Ozturk could have given away a pen for wrestling and needs to be cleverer about it but at least he wasn't a pushover. I think the two of them today are our biggest, strongest and meanest options and maybe that'll do for the run in.

They looked solid enough to me, they seemed to be playing to strict instructions to keep it simple and if in doubt boot it out. A clean sheet so a hell of a lot better than last time out. Doncaster didn't have much pace going forward and as you say - Cattermole helped and Rovers were poor overall.
Ozturk still worries me with the amount of holding that he does - a bit like John O'Shea. On another day we would have conceded a penalty or two.
Dunne did well for the second goal although their keeper should not have gone for that. I'd be happy for them to continue - just hope that Peterborough don't have any pace up front.

Aye it's a funny game isn't it, if we'd had a ref who remembered his contact lenses we'd have given away two pens and slated the defence.

I don't think there's a lot in it between any of them but they looked more like the level that we're at than Flanwin has at times. Nothing complicated just win headers and boot it into touch. Ozturk does need coaching on holding though because he was very lucky today and that luck won't last.

Exellent start by the lads and Charlie is getting better. could be similar to 1997-98 when we got to 90 points in the championship/league one ? but missed out by 1 point. that changed defence made the difference though and bring on the Pompey for the showdown next Sat.

Such a ****wit!! You can simply not be a Sunderland fan to say such utter crap. Portsmouth are the 4th best team currently. Behind SAFC, Barnsley and Luton! We should win every game thus going up automatically so the play offs don’t come into it. Dickhead

The lad he held elbowed Wyke, pulled, strangled, pushed and dragged shirts off Wyke and Grigg. All very similar to the penalty appeal and none of them punished so I can see why it wasn’t given. Ref seemed to let that go. Just cos it’s in the box doesn’t make it more or less of a foul!!

That said I completely agree!! I’d want a penalty fir that too!!! But there was a blatant push on a Honeyman in the box first half which went seemingly unnoticed by sky!! Very similar shovebto move him under the ball.

Were you there? You must go through rolls and rolls of sellotape constantly sticking your season ticket back together.

Win our games, we go up.

It’s all you can ask for, credit to the lads for the season.

The Portsmouth game is going to be something else ain’t it?

I can’t help but wonder if we’d had this Wyke all season, no injury, we may be home and dry by now, but I think we will get there.
