Commentators mentioned that Alioski looked nervous from the start, he was a total wreck by the end, touch and decision making completely left him, and sadly Pablo was no better. What I can't get my head round is the general unwillingness to shoot from 20 yards. Do they get a bonus or something for scoring inside the box? Bit of a lucky deflection, bad parry by the keeper or one coming back off the woodwork and we're in, but no one is willing to take it on except Gianni and Harrison, and they both sky everything. Just looks like every other player is scared to miss. On the edge of the box the ball was going Clarke - Ayling - Pablo - Alioski - Harrison - Alioski - Pablo and then they were trying a little through ball to the 6 yard box - I know we've been doing it successfully all season, but it looked laborious and predictable today and it gave a side like Wigan who were fighting for every clearance the chance to crowd the 6 yard box and repel all efforts at the slide-rule pass. Ah sh*t, we can't change it now - Blunts fans will be thinking all they have to do now is match our points tally last three games. Maybe there's another twist to come yet, IBWT, auto or playoffs. Grrrrrrrr.
and you slow Aussie bollox, we can still get promoted (via the play offs)even if we **** it up over the next three games, or should I say if the Blades don't **** it up.
Spot on Davy, we seem to want to walk the ball in all the time, Bamford had a great chance to cross the ball low just inside the 18yard box yet chose to try beat their defender, ****ing stupid decision
would he have had to tho,he was a natural striker, that is right place right time, without running all over the park.Litterally worth their weight in gold.A player like him would have been invaluable today, the difference being the penalty scored and another three points.
Everybody was taking a poor touch too many on the 18 yard line instead of hitting first-time efforts, and the crossing was too long, too short or meat and drink to the big Wigan lads at the back. Wigan deserved their win today.
Lets move on though, Wood had a chip on his shoulder because of the treatment he got. **** him, sick of hearing his name.
Can't take anything away from Wigan today, 10 men did a job against 11 boys they deserve everything they got, good luck to them
There have been many games over the years that ten man teams have won. You can still play a 441 formation.
If Bamford extended his neck another inch he might win a few headers Sky commentators said he needs to commit and use his strength more, thing is he doesn’t have any strength when going forward, with back to the opposition he holds it up nicely but he looks scared when facing a big defender. I know it’s hindsight but Roofe has pace, he pulls teams out of position but Wigan with 10 men behind the ball isn’t a game to suit Roofe and I thought Taylor was good first half. Previous comments about weak in the middle I totally disagree with, Phillips has been a rock all season, he was swapped for Forshaw and we were piss poor. I thought we were down to 10 men as Forshaw hardly touched the ball. In all management down to the 11 on the pitch, poor decisions cost us massively today. Roofe and Bamford in the same team leave us very unbalanced. One things for sure, we won’t get that many chances if we do make it to the PL so I’m more convinced than ever that we need better than both Roofe and Bamford up front
