You could try going down early at half-time but you may want to consult the other thread about early leavers!!!

Bovril is a comfort drink in the winter. It also always tastes like Bovril, whereas tea can be great or, more often, disgusting at venues such as SMS. I have to say that the tea at the little booth in the family area at The Dell was lovely.

You should come to Sincil Bank and sample the Carpet Burgers and 'cured' hot dogs (I think their cured. either that or gone 'ard. lol

Thatis of course as long as you are in the first half of the quese. After that you will have selection only of 1 broken pie or mars bars :)

The gross profit on the food and drink sold at St Marys will be in the region of 65 to 70% as a bare minimum, this based on friends who ran a cafe and worked in hotels and also based on the catering budget were I work as being an accountant I have to know this. You have to then take out the overheads staffing costs etc but even so the Don is making a nice bit of wedge out of it for the club.

Having said that the food at the stadium is truly awful , I wouldnt even feed it to my dog.

Having worked for the stadium's catering service on and off for too many years it's amusing to see what other people have to say!

The food is never going to be that great, it's a football match, not some michelin star paradise! Rarely do we sell out of EVERYTHING, (it's normally the opposite when we have bagfuls of food which goes to waste, except than a couple of free chicken balti pies for me - win ;)), but when we do I understand it's a complete joke.

Anytime I'm at the game spectating I'm quite happy with my CBP to be honest. I never understand the rush for half time though. Just buy everything before the match, surely?

"I wouldn't even feed it to my dog".

Worth trying it out on Bassettsaint, though?"

No mention of it here, so I thought i'd weigh in - the bottled water is some of the best around :)
And before anyone says it's overpriced, simple answer is if you think it's overpriced don't buy it. Personally i've been caught out so many times trying to smuggle soft drinks bottles into grounds that I can't be ar5ed trying anymore!

I take a bottle of water to every game and although clearly visible in my bag I've never had a problem.

Clearly the dog has poor taste as it certainly isn't me ;)

Did anyone sample a chicken balti pie at walsall? The home of the CBP at footy matches apparently - delicious!

It's a sort of moaning about people moaning, so in my book that is moaning. Good moaning.

You've had more luck than me, maybe even it's down to where you are in the ground. However it's happened numerous times at away games too so St. Mary's is not alone

Enjoyed a fantastic chicken balti up at Hartlepool last season, piping hot as well which was just the job as it was a chilly evening. Had to have another one to confirm my verdict :emoticon-0110-tongu

they may know how many are going but that does not tell you how much people are going to buy. if they were to cater for everyone then they would make a massive loss and not every buys food or drink at the ground.

  18. I walk into SMS every match with a bottle of Sprite clearly visible in my hands and I have never been challenged over it. At away games I usually have to remove the screw cap.

Yeh i can normally take a bottle of something in but like someone said earlier maybe it's where you sit that makes them take it off you.Never understand the bottle top getting taken off you at away grounds,i mean the thing would barely reach the pitch if you threw it and also if i wanted to throw something i'd throw the bleeding bottle! makes no sense! On the subject of food,i had a i think it was called a portman pie at ipswich,it was a steak pie and the meat in it was nice and tender, quite surprised!
