**** you is what id say to that. Who are you to say my comments are ignorant? I've never been there as in never done it to myself as I'm not a selfish **** but I've been around suicide. I'm glad you survived for your daughter's sake but I have zero sympathy for what you did to yourself
afternoon, fellas! well,i am not really a flat racing man(as stated before here..),but it looks a nice programme today,so here are my first two verdicts: lingfield,1 30: i think,GALLIPOLI is bound to run a big race in this,as he had the misfortune to bump into two good horses on his last two starts, keyser soze and cardsharp, and he wasnt beaten far both times.only up 2 lbr for those efforts,so he has to be high on the list today. 2 00: WATERSMEET is a reliable yardstick, who i like a lot,and if able to get into a good position up front, should run his usual game race again..definite e w value..
When I hear people opine how suicide is selfish, cowardly, pathetic, or the 'easy way out', I am utterly incredulous at their supercilious mindlessness. I for one, have been to some dark places, and I can't imagine how brave you would have to be to take such action.
I never said cowardly or easy way out. It's very brave it goes against every instinct we have as human beings to survive. It is also the most selfish thing a person can do. I know there's reasons why people do it, I know it's not a logical choice for the mindset that people are in but that doesn't change the fact that it is incredibly selfish. And I have no sympathy for them. My thoughts are for the people that are left behind. We are on a public forum where people should be free to express their opinions but to be called abusive names because an opinion differs to that of someone else's just about sums this forum up. I was recommended this place by a former colleague but it hasn't lived up to the high standards of which is recommendation came unfortunately
Why the **** are people talking about this on a racing forum, can you not just leave it and get on with the racing?
Very sensitive subject Denny and one which I can see both sides of the spectrum. Like you say it is certainly not a cowardly act but you surely have to wonder how dark someones World must be to think that death is preferable to life. I am not surprised that the sensitivity of this subject can lead to extreme reactions. Personally I am always incredulous when I hear of suicides, especially in those that seem to have everything to live for. I fear death greatly as I am not religious but am mindful to enjoy my time here rather than worry about my mortality.
G'day peeps Today's telly picks are: Lingers Amade Crossing The Line Kachy Charming Kid Wissahickon (unassailable) Documenting Newc Global Warning Magic J NAP Forbidden Planet No idea what the acca would pay, and no intention of trying it (I very rarely do any multiples beyond doubles - hard enough getting 2 winners let alone 4 or more!) Good luck all
And to take a lighter note about the serious topic ..... I've been to dark places. Laystown in Kent is particularly grim
With you there Reebs. Back in the 90's I went to the 1st "proper" (whatever that may mean) evening meet at Brighton races. Absolute hole & if it wasn't for the e/w tenner I had on the 25/1 winner of the 2nd race, would've been even worse. Problem there was 'loose lipped' bookies, so by the end of the card....half of 'em wanted to sh4g me; the other half wanted to mug me.....and then there were the blokes to think about!!!! Dark Places, indeed.....
L31 for tv interest Lingers Crossing The Line Deep Intrigue Newc Global Warning Daarek Baghdad Kachy and Wishakon a solid double surely.
I posted this last year and it yielded 3 winners so hopefully same again this year albeit half the prices this time! French bastards but at least they pay us haha 2 30 Lingfield - Silvery Mist 9/1 3 05 Lingfield - Forza Capitano 9/1 3 40 Lingfield - Pizzicato 4/1 4 45 Lingfield - Indyco 10/1 Also fancy Moore on MOTW to beat Wick 16/1 e/w steal
make of this what you will , but a punter tried to get 3k on Glendevon at 16/1 this morning , apparently he could have 600 at that price , he went elsewhere .....
Close, but no cigar. Out ran their odds though. Occasionally bags big priced winners so was worth a small e/w
