    Derby Day at last

Forget the CL in midweek, this is the one that matters.

The eyes of the sporting world on the KCOM today.

I'm one of the 8,000. Not trying to impress anyone either.
I just cannot stomach this over the top local hype about the 'biggest derby in the World' When it clearly isn't.
The HDM were banging the drum this week claiming that it will be the biggest sporting crowd this area has seen for a decade.?

So capacity crowd. What is 24,500 +15% Allam stylee? I'd be impressed if they did get near capacity, but I don't believe they will push much past 20, if that. 15k would be a good crowd for the BDITW.

This is also assuming there weren't any other sporting events outside the KC that attracted a larger crowd than Rugby, like Hull City reserves or North Ferriby.

The article actually said it was heading for the biggest Hull FC v Hull KR crowd for ten years, it's not expected to beat the 22,337 attendance in 2009.

It's great weather for a game, no excuses not to attend.

That's assuming you can lay your hands on a ticket, they're like gold dust.

It was worded to sound as though it would be the biggest sporting crowd around here for over a decade.
The local media have and have always banged the drum for rugby league in a positive manner. Over egging the importance to a laughable degree. Last week we had articles about the 'rivalry' between the two sets of fans whilst dragging up a load of tosh from nearly 50 years ago when according to the HDM the City Psycho's 'terrorised Hull' Exactly the opposite stance they took when bigging up this derby and the fans rivalry.
So you think its just a coincidence ?

I think the views on RL (which tends to be more FC) and to an extent views some hold on Sheff U tend to be formed by when you started following City on a regular basis. If someone started following relatively recently, they'll struggle to understand why others hold the views they do.

Correct. I have a long memory and it is FC. They and their sport is no friend of Hull City and football in general.

I understand that to some extent but if you think rugby league is a tinpot sport what does it say about somebody
who feels threatened by it ?

I don't think they are threatened by it as a sport as such, more pissed off with the local media hype that defies facts and logic, and the regurgitation of it by some loud fools.

If the media were even handed in approach, it wouldn't be as bad, but it doesn't enhance the image of this region, as others see the reality on the travels.
