Remember though, we also payed for bent, and spurs had a 6 million sell on clause (or what we still owed them anyway), so we didnt make 24 million profit in him like some seem to think. We probably just about broke even tbh. Henderson, yes that was all profit. European would be nice, but its not easy, especially in the league, and a cup run is just the luck of the draw and who the opposing team puts out to play really. (and wether or not we turn up, but the cups are all about romance, if the best teams always won cup ties, then we wouldnt have won in `73 thats for sure)
fair point about bent i did overlook that. henderson and carroll both come under the kenny dalglish paying over the odds bracket. and yeah but i think still aiming for europe is realistic and a good way to get fans on board (Y)
money spent has to match ambitions, and by now i would say sunderland should be aspiring to finsh ahead of the likes of everton, villa, stoke fulham etc in the race for that 7th spot
