Look, I agree that action is needed regarding climate change. But this is not the way to go about it.

 

Speak for yourself! Certainly not "everyone" plenty of positive comment by those inconvenienced on BBC news reports I saw. Look at the amount of discussion on here no other way that would have happened without the protest, not just in London

No, you said that action is needed regarding climate change, which was exactly the point.

You may be too young to remember the anti-apartheid campaign when people said boycotting South African fruit etc. would have no effect. Well they were wrong. This is a similar concept, you bring the subject firmly into public view and in the end action has to be taken.

Edit: exactly the same kind of campaign led to universal suffrage.

 

Isn't this on the wrong thread? It's action by politicians that's wanted.

That's your view, stick with it if you think the current governmental attitudes are going to benefit the planet.

My 2p.

However much you are pissed off Tom, you said it got you talking about it in a negative way. Whatever they did, how can someone with all things going well has another 50-60 years left on this planet feel negative about climate change.

 

No you're right much better to piss off people who are probably on your side of the fence.And not discuss the larger picture.
Maybe coal in India or exhausts in Mexico,China,Africa or the Americas?
Damage (no matter amount)general graffiti and gluing yourself to vehicles much more interesting.
Not pissing on your own doorstep springs to my mind.

 

The UK is in the top10 countries for carbon emissions per capita, that is literally pissing on your own doorstep.

Obviously, it’s a global problem, but it affects this country as much as anyone else. Why shouldn’t they protest in this country?

 

Chilcs I know your politics but what they have done has split opinion. Good move that.

 

Surely climate change goes beyond politics? It’s not a matter of opinion, it’s real, and needs dealing with. Now.
