    Very true, Pat.
Shaky first half, but he grew into the game and our defence looked pretty comfortable, bar the odd set-piece.

  3. Harry reckons that, until today, Ledley hadn't kicked a football since the end of last season.

If that is true, then his performance is to be marveled at even more!

Perhaps I should change my user-name to "Ledley Is A God"?

PNP - over here we have a sport called Aussie rules (AFL), bit like Gaelic football.
Anyway part of the players' contract involves having public speaking and media training.
So when a player speaks to the media he is coherent and confident (hardly any erms and you knows to be heard).
Why can't it be done for football.

    No idea, PL.
Players should be prepared for life in the media spotlight, as well as the possibility of a career outside the game, as most academy players just won't make it.
Some of our youngsters will never be good enough to have a career as a professional footballer, but they could take other roles in the game, if they're given adequate preparation.

What's to stop an academy reject from going on to be a top coach, physio, match official or even commentator or pundit?

Saw this on a site - Redknapp with very big praise for our captain.

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has hailed the influence of defender Ledley King - and claims his club captain deserves comparisons with the likes of Bobby Moore and Alan Hansen.

King has long battled a chronic knee complaint and was restricted to just nine appearances last season before having more surgery over the summer. Yet Redknapp perseveres with the 30-year-old due to his contribution when fit, a fact again demonstrated during Saturday's 2-0 win at Wolves.

Redknapp said: "Ledley is an amazing player. He only ever trains for a few minutes the day before a game. It will take all week now for his knee to go down and then we will try and get him on the park next Sunday (against Liverpool) but he is one of the best centre-halfs you will ever see."

He added: "It is no coincidence that he comes back into the side and we win 2-0. I brought him back at Liverpool at the end of last season and we also won 2-0 there.

"He is different class, he gives an air of confidence, he knows what he is doing. People around Ledley respond to him.

"He doesn't make too many last-ditch tackles because he is already in position to deal with it.

"Like the Bobby Moores and Alan Hansens over the years, they understand what they are doing - and that's what he does."

Yes he was amazing yesterday especially in the 2nd half,if we can just get 1 game a week out of him our defence will be so much better. It must be great for his partner in defence(whoever it is)to play with him because he must give such confidence to them. Also the keeper must love him.

That's why we have Gallas, Lidls.
Unfortunately he's been injured for the start of the season, like a number of other important players.

He played 36 games for us last season, before you suggest that he's a crock.

Gallas doesn't have too long left at the top, but it's important to have experience at the back.
    He's still a very good centre-half.
