At the risk of making a sweeping generalisation, I genuinely believe that the disabled are the most discriminated against in society.

I find that a crying shame, because I'm humbled by many of the less able bodied people I know, who serve as an example of looking at what you can do, rather than focusing on what you can't.

I'm of the same opinion though much better than it was .
Part of the problem imo is we are not a homogenous group and there has never been an overarching successful campaign group. Plus even basic physical adjustments for one impairment may cause problems for others i.e. ramps can be a problem for some walkers with mobility problems who may prefer steps , the rumble strips for blind people are not the most fun to go over in a chair, so there are differing priorities.
Oh and the constant benefit scrounger crap gets ****ing wearing .

Unlikely Schindler, and it'll probably get worse with threads like this monstrosity when the season's over and there's no footy over the summer.

Stick it out though, when the season starts again it's usually a lot better.

 

I think part of the problem is that many disabled see 'special' treatment as discriminatory in itself, and prefer to find solutions of their own. As for the benefits thing, I know plenty that won't claim what they're entitled to, because they want to take pride in being independent.

I totally agree about the non-homgenous thing too.

I used to hate the PL board because of all the negativity and intolerance from some, so used to stick to my team board.

It is a bit addictive at times though.

If I want to talk real football, or have a sensible discussion, I head to the team board.

If I'm after a laugh, I'll head over here. Sometimes I don't post on the PL board for weeks because I get tired of it and stick to the club board, other times I'm here far too long.
