    What a move!
As Eddie Jordan said "This has now proved all the people who said he cant overtake, WRONG!" (paraphrased)
Their is NO argument now that Seb cant overtake - an outstanding move round the outside of Alonso (who is probably the 2nd hardest to pass, after Schumi) and even when Nando forced him onto the grass he kept his foot in it. Very very brave stuff - that outclassed every other move in the race and I think it was the move of the race! Shows Vettel is just as good at overtaking as Alonso, Button and co. and reinforces his complete racer image!:emoticon-0116-evilg

Honestly though, his car is much (and when I say much, I mean much) better than the Ferrari. It was a good move. But that Ferrari is stupidly slow.

I'm amazed Vettel kept the car facing the right way. 2 wheels on the grass, and still kept his foot down. Both Vettel and Alonso are lucky that Vettel can control a car. It could have easily snapped back across the track, taking both drivers out of the race.

It's only bad in the 1st sector, coming out of the chicane. That allowed Vettel alongside, but you have to admit it takes guts to keep your foot down when 2 wheels are off the road altogether.

Yes well that shows his superior skill, most drivers couldnt have controlled it!!! And Nando's FL was only 6 tenths slower than Vettel - that isnt all that great Yes its a reasonable amount but its not massive!

It was a good move yes and I think if it was someone else it would have ended badly, but I still think Button's was better ;)

It was probably the bravest overtake, but you have to admire Button's tactical driving to mug his teammate and Schumacher while they were fighting.

I have to say I strongly disagree with you there. Not only did Vettel keep it nailed all the way round the outside and even when he went on the grass - most other drivers would bottle it but it was against a car who was, on FL's, 0.3s slower than you rather than 1.2s slower.

    Button FL: 1.26.187
    Schumacher FL: 1.27.402

    Vettel FL: 1.26.557
    Alonso FL: 1.27.191

This proves that their was less of a performance difference between Vettel and Alonso than Button and Schumacher! Therefore Vettel's move was much much better than Button, as well as the fact that Schumi seemed to make a mistake when Button overtook.

Both overtakes were good and credit to both drivers, but you could also argue that Vettel was cruising in the final stint where they set their fastest laps.

I would have to say that both these overtakes were done fairly early in the race on full to medium tanks of fuel, different tyres ages, etc. FLs really don't matter on this.

I don't think they would actually, it was a very good overtake from Vettel but saying that other drivers would not of kept their foot in it or would of crashed is a bit silly.

Also those lap times are useless.

It was a ballsy overtake, very impressive. He didn't seem too impressed with having to use the grass (as he told the camera's a few times <laugh>). Quite a few good moves in this race, good stuff!

Vettel passed Alonso on lap 3 i think - this means that they had the same ages of tyres so that doesnt hold up.

I was talking about the comparison of Vettel/Alonso to Button/Schumacher with different tyre ages.

I think a lot of drivers would have backed out when forced onto the grass! And the lap times arent useless, they show that Vettel passed Alonso in a car which wasnt much slower however Schumacher was loads slower - he was backing everyone up so Buttons move wasnt anything out of the ordinary whereas Seb's was!

And the silly thing is to not realise that Seb can pull off exceptional moves and can win even when he does not lead all the way.

Well whenever drivers are forced onto the grass a bit they usually keep their foot in it because it is the natural thing to do for them, I do not think many drivers would of backed off to be honest.

The lap times are pointless because their fastest laps does not equate to their average race pace or the pace they had while the overtaking was done, so yes they are redundant .

In laymen terms the Ferrari/Alonso was no slouch and Vettel went round the outside at parabolica, pretty impressive. Not best ever but deffinitley impressive.
