Yup chink is racist. Odd one because ive noticed its its definitely a northern thing. As ive said before its the contexted its used for me and ive no issue with it.

Seen loads of chinese people (social media) get upset by it regardless of context the snowflakes.

Also seen it used by my chinese mates too.

Well put and something i understand. I've mentioned in the past on this forum that quite often i get called a pikey. Although it is a detriment term, some would say stronger than that, I've never taken offence to it. The funny part is those not affected by the comments on this forum, seem to like to take the most offence. Although having said that, I could think of some situations where it might not be wise to use certain terms in reality, as although i don't take offence to it (pikey), many others may do.

Probably not if you are referring to an object like chink made spares but Comm used it to refer to my Mrs which is kind of rude.

I wasn't offended because it was just a desperate attempt to get a rise from a Moron.

If someone referred to her in that way in person then it may be problematic, I would probably just dismiss it and ignore them .

I wouldn't call the police as a hate crime like many do these days .

Definitely context, Bobby. I've always said that it's how a word is delivered and not the actual word itself.

It might be a northern thing as growing up people just referred to a chinese takeaway as the 'chinkys' and it wasn't until I was actually in one of these places myself that I understood it was a racist term. I was somewhere between the age of 16-18 and my phone rang after I'd placed my order and I casually told the person that rang me that I was 'just in the chinkys waiting for my order' as soon as I said it everybody looked at me and one of my mates give me the daggers. I didn't understand what was going on until somebody told me it was a racist term. It was news to me. I was surprised but that's when I learned that it was indeed offensive.

 

There's a lot of hypocrites on here.

I believe Stan was simply throwing back the same comments rather sarcastically that Duncan comes out with.

 

It just looks like Dunc gets hammered if he potentially changes his story on something and it looks like if he notices somebody else changes their story he gets hammered for that also.

 

Regardless of whether it's Duncan or not, anyone changing their story should get pulled up on it I agree. Anyone pulling them up should also be able to back it up or accept if they get it wrong.

In this instance though, Stan was simply using sarcasm to use Dunc's words against him. BTW Dunc did the same with Stan a few posts ago as well by saying "I have a good memory" (something Stan said once before) to which Stan replied "No, you really don't!". All japes imo and no harm no foul tbh.
