Maybe a bit Everton specific & many won’t know the history. Barton, who’s an Evertonian, took a massive pop at Unsworth when he was caretaker manager at Everton, and said he was a fat bloke who was little more than a PE teacher. Unsworth has last night, guided our U23’s to the PL2 title for the second time, Whereas Joey has just laid the nut on the Barnsley manager, and apparently bust his nose and knocked a couple of his teeth out, whilst manager of Fleetwood. Joey is a gobshite.
I get it now. Barton is hated up here because of his connection to Newcastle he's always trying to stick the boot in to us with his small club comparisons. He was a right dirty bastard everytime he played at the SOL. He'll get his comeuppance one day the big mouth ****er.
It's funny because it was only a few months ago I saw him on a whole piece on BBC Football Focus as manager talking about how he'd put that past behind him
And yet still both **** managers. Unsworth made Everton look like relegation material. Made saints look sexy good.
Everton were relegation material before he became caretaker hence the reason Koeman was sacked & he had 8 whole games, completely unfair to say he’s ‘****’ based on that, particularly given he’s now won the PL2 twice, in a league that’s highly competitive with the money clubs second strings. He probably needs to leave & prove himself in the league pyramid now though.
PL2? An under 23 league.... can’t be judged he’s managing egos. U23s will give there all just to prove they’re good enough to make the next step. He won’t have it that easy in the Championship, League 1 etc
Plenty of excellent youth Managers have never made it at senior level, we had Whispering Dave Merrington (the man who made Shearer and Le Tiss), Stuart Gray and Steve Wigley here at Saints for example.
