Just got this off Kickoff.com Posted: 2011-09-11 10:26 Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan took a staggering $2.8-million bait from UAE club Al-Ain and turned his back on the glamourous English Premier League at the expense of a League noted to offer fading stars their last big pay day. Gyan, Sunderland's record signing at £13-million is set for a season's long loan with both clubs confirming the deal that KickOffGhana broke earlier. It has already led to accusations on many fan sites that he has fallen for money and the numbers suggest without any doubt that it played a part. Gyan was clearly disillusioned with his pay packet at Sunderland and when the club boss Steve Bruce suggested "parasites" were turning the player's head, it seemed it had to do with agitation from his camp demanding a pay rise or a move. And that move backed by the money Gyan and his managers think he deserves is what he has now. Al Ain will pay Gyan $1-million dollars upfront for the loan and a monthly wage of $150 000 during the one year loan period. It all adds up to $2.8-million in earnings for the player over the one year period
His timing is awful. If it's his pay packet he was unhappy about (and I don't know how with his recent performances) then this can't have happened overnight and the club should have acted sooner and more decisively. Something doesn't add up to me.
Somethings amiss mate, you cant get a deal like that sorted in 24hrs!!! If Gyan was on a performance based pay deal, he would have barely been picking up minimum wage recently!!!
I don't know the figure but would imagine Gyan was on a cany wedge at our place. Sums up the sorry state of footballs financial state when a mis-firing, out of form striker thinks he can demand more money.
Apparently he was on £25k a week at SAFC. To go from that to what works out at £75k at Al-ain is off it!!
Just read that he had agreed to stay and shhok hands with Bruce on Wednesday, only to anounce he was going on Friday. Bruce is blaming the agents but the size of the clubs who originally came in for him probably had some effect.
????????????????????????????? $2.8m/year works out at £33k~week........ Hardly a massive sum in football terms
Would agree - not massive in todays ludicrously high wages of the PL - but it is tax free. These poor PL players are on top rate
I agree its a lot of money but what extra can he do with that cash that he couldnt do with his 40-50k a week he was on here. The only way he can save any face out of this scenario is if he gives all his extra income from the move to charity and we all know that aint going to happen.
I thought top tax rate was only if you earned over £50k/week? This Gyan deal has more to do with it than wages IMO.
Well last season he was looking forward to the winter break, he was shocked and gutted he didnt get one, UAE play 20 games a season, or about 2 games a month, 2 weeks off every month, in a hot country, with a canny pay packet and less tax, what more could you want.
Gyan is your typical money grabbing C U N T and is a prime example of what is wrong with the game now! This C U N T earns more in one week than most do in a year for playing football!!!!! We gave him his chance in the Premier League and paid a staggering 13 million for his services and HE agreed a four year contract, who the **** does he think he is to ask for more a year later and when hes been **** for ages? The club should of told him bollocks andf made him sit on the bench till January then sold him just to get our money back! Im totally flabber gasted that this has happened, the second money grabbing mercinary striker to leave our great club in the lurch at the final hour when theres no chance of replacing them! Hope you enjoy your time in the UAE and hope come january they buy you off us and good riddence and never come back you F U C K I N C U N T!
Basic Rate Tax, i.e. 20% is on income in the band £0 - £37,400 pa 40% Tax rate is on income in the band £37401 - £150,000 pa 50% Tax rate is on income in the band £150,000 and above pa Then of course there's NI, an additional "tax"....
personal wise it sounds good career wise moving from The best league in the world to a league on a par with the welsh league Bad choice
He is still in the shop window with Ghana, and the world is a small place these days, anyone can send a scout over there, or watch videos of the matches if they are interested, and in a **** league he may look World Class again (which lets e honest, he never realy did for us)
