Huddersfield did look like an already relegated team for most of the match but it was still a good result. Nice weather, and the new stadium actually made the early kick off enjoyable! Dunno if they've showed any of the kick around Lucas and his little kid had at the end(handball!) but that was a lovely moment too. Lucas was excellent today took his goals really well, it's a clinical touch that we've been missing for most of the season. Thought Pochettino was taking the piss a bit with the line up but it worked out well. Foyth still reminds me a bit too much of Cheriches but he put in some great work for the second goal. Great to have Wanyama back even if he's probably gone in the summer, only downer was Llorente not getting his goal but he played really well regardless.
Just seen the score. I had a feeling now harry is out you would have top 4 in the bag and now you are racking up the goal difference too. No kane no pain!
Lunatic Fringe Watch Team announcement "You had three goes at this and still couldn’t put out a decent team." - JamesCHarris97 "No Son No Toby No Rose This guy will never learn (crying emoji) Win your game then rest the best" - Adan21340291 "Alright don’t rub it in our face" - georgiapearl21 "Pochettino is getting more & more negative every season. Does he even know Huddersfield have already been relegated? There is no pressure on them so They're bound to play better. Why drop Son, Toby & Rose? (angry emoji)" - Adan21340291 "This is a piss take surely? Every game is a must win and we’re putting line ups like this out? FFS" - gitsham98 "A ****ing Carabao Cup team!" - miamibyrne "Blimey, not a lot of goals in that line up." - rich_chandler Eriksen twats a free kick into the wall "Eriksen is utter tripe" - steve04szabo "as usual" - NIceOneSonny Wanyama puts one wide "about a mile wide not close" - NIceOneSonny Llorente misses "Never heard that one before" - georgiapearl21 Llorente heads wide "Please please please Poch take Eriksen off...he is awful...again!!!!" - Iorwerth52 "I see eriksen’s poor form seems to be getting worse" - andy58191836 Half Time "Is it just me that thinks eriksen’s off in the summer (shrug emoji) would explain his terrible form that seems to be getting worse & worse" - andy58191836 "He's right Eriksen has been rubbish for a long time. No point denying it. We can all see what's going on. Thank God for Sissoko & Lucas. Wanyama is fantastic too today." - Adan21340291, in agreement with andy eight digits "What a goal by Wanyama (Brazilian sign language for anus emoji) Lucas goal was fantastic too but you expect more from him. Don't even want to mention Eriksen. Most annoying player at Tottenham At least stop him taking our free-kicks & corners ffs (angry emoji)" - Adan21340291 "I hate this performance. Boring to watch We need to attack more" - TusharIsOn Lucas shotos at the keeper "1000 to 1 Eriksen to deliver decent pass !!" - Iorwerth52 Hugo makes a save "Good effort. Must be great having a free kick taker who can get the ball over the wall. Oh well, at least Eriksen can take a corner.. Oh, hang on.." - PAFCOYS Eriksen hits the post "release him plz" - Kailahh_
Regardless of his assists...his dead ball execution is poor and not befitting of someone who takes the 'dead ball specialist' tag at Spurs.
As I've mentioned elsewhere, several times in fact, the likes of Modric, Bale and Bentley all had reputations as dead ball experts before joining us yet all learned that the optimal way to take a set piece was to blast it into the first defender in a short space of time, so why everyone - especially the Lunatic Fringe - obsess about Eriksen yet ignore countless other players whose set piece ability has deserted them is baffling
You'd think the most optimal way is to test the keeper if not score. Granted that can't be expected at every dead ball but I can't recall a dangerous delivery from Eriksen recently enough at all.
This season only one off the top of my head was the Dele header against Chelsea. Great whip from the freekick and Dele nodded it perfectly past Arrizabalolga. Really don't get why we don't give Tripps the freekick duty spot. Think he's only taken two this season and he scored one (Fulham) and hit the post on the other which immediately got tapped in by Kane (Everton).
This match? Good ball in to Llorente, who headed just wide. It may not be a coincidence that the Spaniard was the first man, though...
