I see your point but did you honestly expect that today at home against Huddersfield? I said 4-0 a couple of days ago so perhaps my confidence displaced the doubts of others.
Not happy to hear this (the 'jobsworth Nazi' is the social vermin of my life) . Are the club looking at mega fines if standing gets out of hand ??
It seems the 62,062 is not possible in a competitive football match due to segregation. It's more 60,000 and a few. I was a long way from the away end but it looked pretty full. On Friday afternoon, the club released a load of seats. I'm not sure if they will all have sold? ATM the ticketing is a bit all over the place, so ImI not reading too much into the odd empty seat. I'm not happy about any empty seats but would put them down to **** up.
Do you not know of the Bill Nicholson quote "It's not only important to win but also to win well." Winning convincingly against bottom clubs is vitally important.
I didn't expect it, but it was a possibility, especially with so many of our main players not starting. Huddersfield stayed in the match for a long time and had a few chances to get a goal in the second half, which would've made it interesting. The two late goals puts a gloss on the result, but it wasn't that easy. Huddersfield did exactly what I criticised them for in the preview. Played reasonably well, didn't take their chances and got punished.
Should have been 4-0 on the hour mark so maybe a slight shimmer and not quite a gloss but it puts us in good fettle for Wednesday.
I'm unsure what the ramifications are for the club but seeing as we stood all the time at Park Lane I can't see it being too much different. This stand was built for atmosphere (and it's phenomenal when we get going) just like Dortmund and Pool who have similar. If they're wanting people to sit down in it then we'll end up being a laughing stock. I'm seeing the two boys later on as it's my best mate's engagement party tonight so I'll find out what exactly happened. Stewards really wind me up though with their powertrips, jobsworth Nazi is an excellent description of them.
I certainly do. I’d much rather our “winning well” was based on team performance, than expecting 4 or 5 goals per game.
Was in the first 10 rows of the South Stand today and Tuesday. Stood throughout both games and haven't seen a steward do anything. I hope your mates are okay and the club can reign some stewards in. Some of the videos from Tuesday were ridiculous.
If the club can up the returns/reallocations regime so that really late 'availables' (home and away sections) can get into the hands of members sufficiently in advance of them attending, then all good. For this season, a bit tolerable. However next season the club needs to have this working like a well-oiled machine ASAP.
I don't expect 4 or 5 goals per match Roo. It all depends on the team we are playing against and how we're going in each individual match. Like today being 2-0 up in 27 minutes and then nothing for an hour worried me. Against whom were we 3-0 ahead early on and there it stayed? If we are that far up so early then it's not unreasonable to expect 4 or 5 is it? I'm expecting a couple more 4 scores before the end of the season.
What block were you in mate? My ST is in row 9, block 252. A steward tried asking the rows in front of us to sit, were successful with about the first four rows but the others just kept singing "stand up, if you..." and the steward gave up in the end. Yeah I saw the videos from Tuesday, utterly embarrassing. I'm hoping this is just an initial "let's look like we're abiding by the rules" scenario before loosening the strings because if we are going to constantly get this every game it's going to kill the atmosphere quickly as it'll just be full of fans getting pissed off. This stadium and stand is absolutely perfect, I just hope the jobsworth nazi's as RDBD brilliantly labelled them, don't ruin it.
Easy win for Spurs. Huddersfield at home between the two CL games v City was a timely fixture for you.
