In what way did he place many lives in danger ? Maybe you would like to provide evidence before throwing out accusations of this sort - but no, we know the evidence will never come because you never answer awkward questions do you ? Just start talking about France to change the subject.

So Annunziata Rees-Mogg has left the Tory party to join Farage. Like him she has stood for election to Westminister, and failed. They are saying that the government has humiliated the country. It is frequently reported that the Tories have turned the UK into a laughing stock, which is very much the same thing. Seeing as SH has damned his own party in Parliament, can we expect him now to join with one of his heroes who he wanted knighted, or stick with his guru the blessed Jacob? Whatever he decides, it is just another example of the right wing splitting into even smaller factions.

No, the Tory party are basically united in following the country's wishes by completing Brexit. Clearly remainer May has been badly advised by other remainers and the civil servants. There is understandably varying views on how to salvage the kind of Brexit the public voted for. Many Tories will vote for Farage's Brexit party in insignificant European elections as a protest against the botched negotiations. These eurosceptics will join the grand swell of new anti EU MEPs in the new parliament. The Macron boy's vision of a United States of Europe will be well and truly dumped in the bin. He is fortunate though as he is able to run to his teacher for comfort just like his old school days.

Your last sentence here just about sums up your debating abilities SH. Absolutely incapable of making a point without taking a personal swipe at someone.

The Brit bashing Macron boy is fair game, you must admit his set up is a bit weird?

  8. Though not as weird as your obsession with it.

It is not my business to be making any judgement whatsoever about his 'set up'.

I'm just surprised how she got away with grooming a 15 year old boy. The French do often turn a blind eye to sexual impropriety, especially at Presidential level.

You certainly do have something of an unhealthy obsession with this SH.

    I
I'm more concerned about the obvious double standards rather than the humpy pumpy.

  13. What double standards would they be?

The abuse on this board directed at Adam Johnson for a start.

  15. Is that honestly all you have? <laugh> The two cases are chalk and cheese. The age of consent in the UK is 16 - it is lower in France. Sure we can all have our views on that and potential morality issues but to compare these and imply any wrong doing on the part of Mme Macron is highly disingenuous.

As Dan says the two cases are different. The Adam Johnson case was against the law in as much as sexual relations took place when the girl was still 15. Macron and his wife only became a pair when he was 18 - a different case altogether, and perfectly within the law. The fact that they are still together now implies that the relationship has been a mutual success, which is all that matters, or which concerns the outside World.

There are many similarities, both were groomed at 15 years old, Macron's teacher's situation was even worse as she was in a delicate position of trust. Hparents were horrified enough to remove him from his school. This is not about the law but moral standards or precisely the lack of them. Macron was having an affair with his married teacher at 16 years. The apparently happy marriage is no justification for abuse and grooming of a minor.

At 16 you are no longer a minor in the eyes of the law SH. They first met when he was 15, but there is no mention of what you call 'grooming' at this time - they waited until it was legal. There are double standards involved here, but they are not what you are implying. Sometimes it does happen that there is a large age difference between partners. Normally in such cases it is the man who is much older - nobody now holds it as a taint on the characters of Charlie Chaplin or Pablo Picasso that they both had partners who were 30-40 years younger than themselves. For some reason it is more normal for the man to be older - but why ? What do you mean by moral standards ? The only moral standard involved is one of mutual respect - when that is gone and has been replaced by exploitation then all morality has gone. Quite frankly I do not care as long as they are both happy with the situation.

I am more in tune with his parents who were horrified and disgusted at the time. As a parent of three daughters and grandchildren currently around the age of Macron when he was groomed by his teacher, I can only guess at the torment she caused his parents.

Yet their torment was misplaced, as history has proved by the fact that they have been together for 25 years - apparently without detriment to their careers or general well being.
