Smith was one of the so-called hard men of the game and we saw a war when Leeds played Liverpool as it was always Tommy Smith butting up to either Bremner or Giles and sorted by Norman Hunter. They had fantastic battles and fantastic respect for each other

Not for me. Berardi can’t overlap because he can’t kick with his left foot, always has to turn inside to pass the ball on with his right.

This promotion race reminds me of the one in 1954when we had to win our last 4 games .I was lucky enough to see all of them starting with Bristol Rovers at hbome infront of a crowd of over 49k they were people on Lowfield road stand roof! Jackie Overfield got the winnerand scored the first goal at home to Everton in the first division
We then played at Rotherham again the ground was packed with spectators climbing up onto a scarp heap
We won 2-0 both goals scored by Nightingale
Onto Doncaster who had Alick Jefferies at centre forward he was been monitored by Man U unfortunatley he got injured playing for the under 21 and never played at the top level again at centre back was Charlie the clogger Williams who went on to be a successful comedianJohn scored and we won 1-0
The last game was at Hull and although we played badly John scored an hat trick and we were promoted .What a feeling.I still remember it some 65 years on and the 4-1 win somehow didn't matter the result did though
    Lets hope history repeats itself
