OA was supposedly planned to have three seasons... There again, if it's successfully enough they will probably drag it out longer.
I watched maybe 4 or 5 black mirror shows. They were all OK. The thing with all of them though, they never seem to have an ending. They have a good concept but don't seem to have a plan for how to wrap up an episode. I always finished them and thought... "And....?" It like they stop before they get to climax of the show and you're expecting 10-15 mins more show but they just sorta end with a whimper.
I think you need to be stoned to watch them properly, then ideally fall asleep 5 minutes before it ends. I can't watch it sober.
This. The one that came closest to a decent ending was the mechanical dog type thing that chased the thieves from a warehouse in the middle of nowhere.
Thats the point. They are allegories of what might be if we abuse a certain aspect of technology. They aren't supposed to be about revolutions against the 'system' (its not the Hunger Games), just how people are used and abused by it. Stop wanting to be spoon fed a story.
That's kinda the point though. I'm looking for a story which generally involves a plot that usually rises in tension until a climax and resolution. Unless it's a documentary. I understand they're trying to make a point about society, but plenty of other stories do too without missing out on a plot.
They have a plot (well maybe not Bandersnatch). What you seem to want is a final resolution, ie someone points out the error in the system and society topples and changes, like a Hunger Games or Ready Player One. Black Mirror is often about ordinary people who suffer because of a societal failure
No, not necessarily, the good guy doesn't have to win. The wrong doesn't have to be righted. A resolution doesn't have to be the problem being fixed, it can be, but doesn't have to be. Sometimes the resolution is coming to terms with failing to change the system, or even "the bad guys" "winning". Black mirror seems to miss the climax and resolution stages of a story. It does well setting up a scenario, the episodes I watched all just seemed to end lazily and sloppy. It's like they sat down to write a show and then ran out of time to wrap it up. There's never a defining moment of climax or completion. ... Here's the standard anatomy of a story, simplified. please log in to view this image In truth most stories will have several mini climaxes before the final one. Black Mirror tends to start with the exposition... Does the slowly rising action and then just stops. They probably do it on purpose to hope to seem edgy, but it comes across as lazy to me.
I'd add that quite often Black Mirror looks to be setting up a twist to the story and then.... nothing.
maybe this black mirror is like the wire where you know what nothing changed, there was the same street **** not matter what and it was really in the end just about how it chewed up all the characters no matter what their goal
Just watching season 7 for the kick off. The Sam cleaning the bed pans scene really is one of the funniest things ever This dry retching is hilarious
frankly it looks a mess. an absolute mess. Hodge.podge of old characters randomly.sprinkled with oh **** they've all died what do we do and liberally dosed with Disney fluff... oh yeah girl.power
