Just read this, which was news to me. As we'd been discussing aspects of US history on this thread, I thought I'd post this to see if anyone else had ever heard of it...
Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, Jallianwala also spelled Jallianwalla, also called Massacre of Amritsar, incident on April 13, 1919, in which British troops fired on a large crowd of unarmed Indians in an open space known as the Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar in the Punjab region (now in Punjab state) of India, killing several hundred people and wounding many hundreds more. It marked a turning point in India’s modern history, in that it left a permanent scar on Indo-British relations and was the prelude to Mohandas (Mahatma) Gandhi’s full commitment to the cause of Indian nationalism and independence from Britain.
I did not. Many many bad things occurred in the South during the slavery days all the way through until the 1960s. Florida escapes attention in that regard but it was amongst the worst states for harsh treatment of certain of its residents.
Blair and Bush did the same thing in Iraq but those pesky women and children had weapons of mass destruction so deserved carpet bombing
White man is still baling out those 3rd world countries. It's a pity the freed Blacks whose relatives made it in American society today, don't go back and help their own. Anyway, bringing the thread back on topic, Villa tickets arrived
Brings me to the topic of footballers. I think today's footballers making huge money should create a fund to help those who came before them and need some assistance. I sent a note about this to the FL. I have experience with this type of fund here in LA.
I was saying the same to my dad today. Brendan ormsbys wife on social media during the week and they’re in an awful situation because of his stroke and round the clock care he requires. At same time Liverpool pay 46m to agents for one season. Surely that agent money should be heavily levied or taxed and put into a fund for ex players like Ormsby who have hit hard times. They played the game when the money was crap
Back in Giles’s day though they only earned a bit above the average wage. He said the players loved to get to the fa cup final as they got 200 tickets each that they usually sold. He used his proceeds to change his car
Used to go early see the players in Ormsby's day,and they always had big flash cars, way out of the average persons price range.
The money today is nowhere near what they earned back then. I feel the current generation could give a little back.
Firstly i have to say sorry to the faithful irish fans and secondly if leeds go up i think its about time that the elland road ground is expanded to 60,000 capacity ( the kop and west stand ) this will make available enough tickets to fill the needs of the growing leeds utd fans worldwide .
