Sunderland host Coventry City in League One Last time out Sunderland drew with Burton and Coventry drew with Bristol Rovers. Sunderland are now in an automatic promotion place with a valuable point gained from Tuesday’s game at the Stadium of Light. Chris Maguire could be in contention for a place on the bench, Lee Cattermole and Aiden McGeady could both return after injury, but Lyndon Gooch is still out. Sunderland will also be without midfielder Dylan McGeouch for Saturday’s game with Coventry City, according to assistant manager James Fowler. Following a string of eye-catching displays in the middle of the park at Accrington Stanley and Rochdale, the Scotsman was forced off with a muscular injury to his abdomen in Tuesday’s stalemate with Burton Albion. Coventry City announced this week that they could be forced to ground share next season after failing to agree a deal with the owners of the Ricoh Arena. The Sky Blues will be cheered on by 3000 travelling fans for the game against the Black Cats. Jack Ross: (James Fowler) Speaking at the club’s pre-Coventry City press conference, Fowler provided an update on McGeouch before revealing the latest on midfielder Chris Maguire, who returned to training at the Academy of Light today. “Injuries are largely much the same as they were, one or two have been back in doing light training today, but Dylan McGeouch has got a strain from Tuesday night and will miss the weekend." “Chris Maguire trained today, that’s the first time he’s been back on the training pitch. We’re glad to see him back, but he’s still a little short of fitness and match sharpness.” “We’ll see how he’s feeling today and tomorrow after training. He’s been out a while and once you come back in within the group you see where you are match sharpness wise. We’re working with him to get him back as quickly as we can.” “Aiden McGeady and Lee Cattermole are still injury doubts as well. Still got niggles and will be assessed over the next 24 hours to see how they are for Saturday.” Mark Robins: "Tom (Bayliss) has a broken arm - he's broken his radius and ulna, he's in a temporary cast at the minute but he's at hospital tomorrow (Weds) when he'll find out whether he'll need an operation or not. "It obviously depends on whether he has an op or not as to whether we can get him back before the end of the season. "He'll need a period of time for it to settle but I want him to ask the question of the specialist to see if he can have a light-weight cast on to enable him to play." David Meyler is undergoing surgery tomorrow morning, which is not good news because that's him done for the season. They are going to put his shoulder back into place and repair all the ligaments, which have gone, but he will be staying here for his rehabilitation, which is good because he's such a great lad to have around the place." Form: Match Appointments: Referee: John Busby Assistant Referees: Richard Wigglesworth and Ken Haycock Fourth Official: Stephen Wade Team Line ups Sunderland: McLaughlan, O’Nien, Baldwin, Flanagan, Oviedo, Leadbitter, Cattermole, Honeyman, Morgan, Wyke, McGeady Subs: Ruiter, Ozturk, Dunne, Hume, Power, Sterling, Kimpioka Injured: Love, Maguire, Watmore, Matthews, James, McGeouch Suspended: None Coventry City: Burge, Sterling, Mason, Davies, Hyam, Kelly, Thomas, Chaplin, Enobakhare, Hiwula-Mayifuila, Bakayoko Subs: Addai, Brown, Williams, Willis, Wakefield, Ponticelli Injured: Meyler, Bayliss Betting Odds: Home 4/5 Away 16/5 Draw 5/2 My two pence: Sitting pretty in second place - we only have to win all of our remaining games and we are guaranteed promotion. I'll go along with that scoreline RTB, 2-0 to the lads and not bothered who scores or how we get them as long as we secure the three points.
We will win. Coventry will end up ground sharing on the Isles of Scilly. Ticks all the right boxes for me.
They have Meyler and Bayliss missing, two good players and we know about Meyler obviously. Any win will do but no sloppy start please. Kimp and Sterling up front for me to start, i don't know what is wrong with Wyke. Some of them Coventry players' names will be tricky for the commentator. it wll kick off at 3pm by the way, i hope.
I would hope with Catts, Grant & McGeady we should be a lot more composed that we were against Burton. I would love a 7-0 win or even more but a win. Just a win will do.
Barnsley and Luton have harder games so a win could be significant ... ... I'm driving up for a 3-0 win.
It's an important day for us and other clubs in the promotion race... A win for us will be brilliant and will definitely keep us in 2nd place.. Who is fit and who is mentally up for it.. there was some hint that 4 games in 10 days was taking its toll on Tuesday, how about 5 in 14? We will soon know I am interested in seeing who he picks, what formation and if the CBs improve
