https://news.sky.com/story/scientists-to-unveil-first-ever-real-picture-of-black-hole-11687509 Scientists are hoping to be able to release the first ever actual picture of a black hole tomorrow....as opposed to computer simulations of one....by using information from an array of telescopes. I have always been fascinated by the sheer scale of space....being a typical child of the 60s when space travel became a possibility rather than a fantasy, but in truth the Universe and its sheer scale is way beyond the comprehension of the human mind. Doesn't stop us trying though
There's a great Chinese restaurant in Bologna with a glass floor that has fish swimming underneath it. You can only eat so much pasta.
My wife has been on a diet for the last few weeks so today I asked her how it was going. “Not well!” She replied, “I had 7 eggs for breakfast this morning!” “Oh dear! We’re they hard boiled?” I asked “No!” She replied “Easter eggs!”
A new mummy has just been discovered in Egypt! It was found covered in chocolate and nuts. They believe he was called Pharaoh Rocher!
What conclusion were you expecting? Black holes cannot be seen by our eyes because they absorb all light, so all that can be photographed is the effect they have on their surroundings. It looks like it was predicted to look....as you say, like a doughnut from this distance. I find the technology involved as interesting as the photo itself....10 days to take the picture, but two years to analyse the data. So much data that it had to be transferred in hard drives as it was too large to transfer using the internet.
See the Old Farmhouse has closed after scoring zero in food inspection. Lovely old building in a poor area...could be a lovely pub but probably not worth it in the present climate where pubs are closing everywhere. Even the taxi driver was concerned that I wanted to go in....asking me if I was sure. Must have the added problems associated with being a listed building (I presume). Up for sale now. Hope new owners discover what a spritzer is.
What a shame. Never really stood a chance after the landlord died. It has potential being so close to St Mary’s, so I hope someone make a go of it!
What a shame. Built in 1560! Not sure if it will ever open as a pub again, I suppose it depends on Strongs who are the leaseholders.
Another trip to the dentist. Another, sorry mate it's loose, it's gonna have to come out. Has anyone ever had an implant? I'm getting to the point where my tongue has learned to balance things on the remaining molars! Still, private dentist in Serbia, 35 quid for a scrape and polish and an extraction. Quoted 500 for an implant.
