Because its last performance was the showcase, the one by which you can judge it. You can HOPE the next performance is better but you can't judge a team by what it hasn't done, only what it has. It's no good judging Spurs by the Everton or Burnley performances now because they're weeks ago, we can only judge Spurs by the City performance because it's the most recent. Teams can go from good one week to bad the next. Forwards can go from 20 yard screamers one week to missing sitters the next week and often a bad performance means the start of a winless run or a forward missing a sitter can be the start of a goal drought. Barca didn't score last night did they PNP? Could easily be the start of a bad run.
I prefer to judge a team based upon the quality of their personnel and their overall season. Form comes into it, but our form pre-City was appalling and we won, whereas theirs was excellent and they deservedly lost. We weren't a relegation candidate, despite that being what our form suggested. One game doesn't mean much. Six is better, but still an incomplete picture. Barca did score last night. It was 1-0 to them. None of their players scored, but the team did. They face Huesca on Saturday. They're bottom of the league and are five without a win. I wouldn't put any money on Barca failing to win that one, to be honest. If they do, then maybe they deserve to be questioned.
Barca scored. That's why they were credited with a goal. Shaw put the ball in the net, but Utd didn't get anything from it.
That's not the dispute, I know they won it but Luke was despondent yesterday and I said there's still hope because Barca didn't score it so their forwards are misfiring. Utd scored it, Barca didn't, we're talking about WHO scored it and NOT who won it.
And PNP already made your misfiring quote look rather silly by highlighting the amount of goals Barca have already scored this season.
No insulting or abusing fellow board users, please. We've all been here long enough to know this ****.
Based purely on last night if Barcelonas attack are misfiring, then Uniteds has run out of gas completely. Barcelona played poorly I will agree but United still didn't lay a glove on them and their form over recent matches would give more concern the Barcelonas - Sorry LDL
Dembele was back on the bench for them last night too after being out injured. I'd imagine he'll play a bit this weekend then possibly start in the second leg. I can't see it being a pleasant evening for Ashley Young if that's the case. We saw how easily Dembele left KWP for dead - who's no slouch - could be quite ugly for Young.
It's not our fault that our new plastic fans only want to watch us on telly...... **** off you silly sod.
